KerryS Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Glorious day for the 150 mile round trip to NMS. Excellent work by Troy to all but eliminate the pops/bangs and get the transient throttle working properly. 150bhp on a 1.8 Zetec with 115 cams Tweaks to the suspension not made a huge difference but definitely better. Got there at 0930 and left at 1530 with them trying to get a Susuki Swift rally car to work. Now got to scrape a zillion dead flies off the screen Kerry Quote
Yobbo Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 I was there earlier in the week for the first time with my crossflow 172hp @7000 and more to come when I go back to finish the job. He is a nice guy, thorough, patient and worked none stop for 6 hours on my car on the rollers. I have been to many rolling road set ups and dyno sessions over the years but he really impressed me. Didn't charge the earth either. Quote
itguy Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Excellent Kerry - out of interest how much did it cost you? I'd like to get my car down there at some point to tune the top-end AFRs and the ignition too... Is your off-throttle hesitation now sorted? Thanks Will Quote
Ian Podmore Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Excellent! That's an amazing amount of power! We'll see what it does a week on Sunday.... and the handling Quote
Howard Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 This is all very encouraging. I'm there on Monday! Hey, Deano, looks like he's going to get some practice on your Megasquirt before he does mine or are you there for the handling? H. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 At this rate we'll need our own club discount! Quote

Is your off-throttle hesitation now sorted? Thanks Will Will- their rates for rolling road are displayed in their front office at £75/hr inc vat. I was charged for 2 hours on the rollers. The transient acceleration map has been drastically altered. Troy says that the MBE way of doing this is one he can't quite get his head around. The Weber-Alfa system reproduces the old carburettor accelerator pump, but MBE do it differently. You can increase fueling for upto 63 injector pulses. As this map sort of sits on top of the basic map, this unearthed a bit of an issue with the injector flow rates, this has been aired on here before. Troy felt that the "crispness" was inhibited by the injectors often being at 100% duty cycle. BUT it is heaps better now, with rapid heel-and-toe down changes now practicable again. The soft/hard cut-outs were set at 7400 and 7600 unlike jak's whose weren't set at all IIRC. edited to correct price now I have looked at the bill K Quote
KerryS Posted May 12, 2006 Author Posted May 12, 2006 Excellent! That's an amazing amount of power! We'll see what it does a week on Sunday.... and the handling Is week on Sunday the next run-out? Is that 21st? Handling - the straight line vagueness is better. Troy recommended I raise the dampers off their bottom, softess setting which I need to try now. Kerry Quote
Ian Podmore Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 week on Sunday the next run-out? Is that 21st? That's the one. Haven't done the route yet. Will be 9:30 start again for a half day 'local' run. Just need to sort out a route now....... Will get it sorted this weekend I hope. With those high rev's I presume that you've got ARP rod bolts in your engine...... Quote
KerryS Posted May 12, 2006 Author Posted May 12, 2006 Nope Troy said he'd set a limiter of 7800 on a Zetec racer once, standard bottom end, forgot he'd d one it and ran rest of season like it But worry not, there's a built in rev limiter in my right foot Kerry Quote
deano.1 Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 This is all very encouraging. I'm there on Monday! Hey, Deano, looks like he's going to get some practice on your Megasquirt before he does mine or are you there for the handling? H. Didn't go for setup, went for RR and a set of cams! First Megasquirt Troy had worked on so a bit of a learning curve but not too many problems and the car ran great on the way home Would definatley reccomend Quote
jak Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 The soft/hard cut-outs were set at 7400 and 7600 unlike jak's whose weren't set at all IIRC. Just to be accurate mine where set to similar values to yours. At some point I'll come over and adjust it to a more sensible level. BTW, what RPM was the peak power at? John Quote
KerryS Posted May 12, 2006 Author Posted May 12, 2006 Hang on, I'll go and get the plot............. ............6895rpm Sorry, thought yours was way over the settings I had. I have right foot rev limiter........ Kerry Quote
