Eastern_Westie Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 I have my Westie insured with FJ, and my tin-top insurance came up for renewal. It was insured with Norwich Union Direct, who had given me the best quote last year. But, in typical insurance company style, they increased my insurance this year, despite the car being 1 year older and worth less money. And despite the fact that I have gone 1 more year without claims. So, I thought I'd try FJ. I called them up, and told them I was an existing customer. They asked me how much my renewal was with NU, and asked me if I was a member of whe WSCC. They then bettered NU by £100 for being an existing customer and a WSCC member. So, they got my business. to Footman James Quote
scott beeland Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Norwich union Because of my postcode and a pair of pending insurance claims( neither of which were my fault and 1 is going to court for recovery of my costs) they puy my policy up on the Xantai from £600 to over a thousand!!! with no guaranteee of a refund if I'm cleared of both insurance liabilities. Car is up for sale due to quotes I've been getting and was gonna bus it to work but at the 11th hour last night I found a comparatively reasonable quote (still waaaaay too much). Bizzare though when the westfield can be insured for the same mileage and that's only £170 Quote
DavidR Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Just had a quote from FJ for £603 whereas my renewal with Adrian Flux is £250. And that's for an old fart, down south with no claims and 5000 miles / £5k value. Checked at Stoneleigh with the FJ team and they said that's right, 5000 miles is "normal car policy" not kit car. Have to go to 2500 or 3000 to get reduction. So no FJ for me David Quote
pete g Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 FJ was only company willing to do a good deal on my normal car last year. £200 instead of £600 everyone else was quoting but this year not so good but still reasonable westfield price starting to creep up ,will do a few phone calls to check. but FJ will normally match ,thats why i been with them about 10 years now Quote
Mark B Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 to Footman James from me too, already had my motor trade insurance with them but they bettered the westys insurance with better cover too! Quote

Mark B Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 club should do a group buy on insurance find out who insurance is due and when and hit the insurance companys with the the numbers for bigger discount Not a bad idea, but I guess being club members they already kinda do that....... Quote
steve_m Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 FJ were giving me very high quotes last year, most unsatisfactory. Backford Bloor with Chauser were the cheapest for me, still £360 for the year fully comp 5000 miles. (BEC) Not looking forward to this years quote . . . Quote
Paul M Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Just renewed mine today ( 1800 Zetec, 3000 miles, 10K Value, me, age 41,) rang round a few and came up with, MSM - £247 FJ - £212 Osborne & Sons ( renewal) £172. Quote
