Ian Podmore Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 Would they fit if the resevoir wasnt there? Perhaps a remote resevoir would help? Dont laugh, but some Lada master cylinders are very similar to Escort ones and have remote resevoirs as standard. That was an idea that Ben was already looking into which was another possible solution to the problem, but that was before he'd actually got the inlet manifold and TB's to try....... Still think Kerry's idea is best Quote
BEN99W Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 Yep I was pretty sure I could use a remote reservoir but even 90 degree angled connectors wouldn't give acceptable clearance. Blatman You seem familar with the Caterham pedal. Is it just a straight forward swap for the one pedal then the master cylinder can be mounted back to front? Or would it be necessary to use the whole caterham pedal box? Ta Ben Quote
Blatman Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 I'm familiar with the pedals. I am not familiar with how much work it would be to get them to work on a Westfield pedal box with a rear facing master cylinder, I'm sorry to say. My point was that thre are cars out there that you can photograph and measure up, knowing that the pedals themselves will fit a Westfield pedal box. If I'm getting this right though, there will need to be some fabrication involved. The biggest issue would be getting the pedal spindle in the correct place. It needs to be lower for the Caterham pedals to work, and that will also solve the length issue too. Once lowered though, it should be easy enough to fab a mount for the master cylinder(s)... Quote
Tiger SPY Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 Hello! i had the same issue with my cat, not that i am comparing but if you look down this link you will see some pics of a reverse throw pedal boc, most parts were off ebay US, it tuned out very well, just for inspiration ! Good luck Aarons pedals Aaron Quote
BEN99W Posted May 25, 2006 Author Posted May 25, 2006 Just for the record, the throttle body dream is alive again thanks to a purchase of some floor mounted pedals from ebay. A chap is making them and has quiet a few sets for sale. I picked mine up for £55 plus postage. I've yet to receive them so can't say for sure that they'll work, but it's looking hopeful. Will update on progress Ben Quote
Major Stare Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Well doen Ben, hope it works out and you can get the TB's fitted for the summer (if we get one). Just looked at you avatar............ what exhaust is that, it looks like half of it is missing? Quote
BEN99W Posted May 30, 2006 Author Posted May 30, 2006 Well doen Ben, hope it works out and you can get the TB's fitted for the summer (if we get one). Just looked at you avatar............ what exhaust is that, it looks like half of it is missing? The exhaust is a standard westfield manifold with a carbon bike can bolted to it without a link pipe. My car originally came with a standard ford manifold , a catalyst and an underslung, rear-exit exhaust that was about 15 feet long. The difference after the upgrade was considerable. Probably too loud for a track but I like it. Gotta be the lightest option possible too Quote
