Lordbenny Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 Firstly, the Cannonball Run Europe is for Millionaires to milkmen, whether your in a Ferrari or a ford your welcome. If your a complete knobhead with more money than sense go on the Gumball but remember it's £45,000 per car We aim the run purely at driving enthusiasts who'll sample moutain passes forests & coastal drives. The cost has to cover 4/5 star hotels, parties & dinners in superb places all over Europe. Oh, by the way we've booked a track (all to ourselves) in THE most amazing location this year. As for the car, the WRC bit is really based on thye fact that it's got a genuine WRC bodykit & 400bhp. A bit of artistic licence there I suppose. See it here : www.powerengineering.co.uk Quote
samcooke Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I've seen the Gumball, Bullrun etc on the telly and TBH I'd be a bit nervous of doing them for fear of getting in trouble with the police. Not for catching me speeding, though. But because I'm not convinced I could stop myself stabbing to death all the ***** that seem to do these events. HTH Quote
perksy Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 £4500 plus would buy a fare bit from the upgrade shop You could benefit from this day after day... Quote

I have personally spoken to most of the entrants on this years event & I assure you they differ VERY little from the guys you will find at most Westfield meets. One young guy (a car nut) works at the local council dump shovelling S*** for a living. He's saved up coz he wants to take part in a life changing challenge & I admire him for that. As I stressed earlier we're about fun & if it's not your bag then stick to your Fisher & dream on!!! Quote
markcoopers Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Is Burt Renolys doing it this year? Or any women in lycra? Quote
Lordbenny Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 Burt won't be there but there'll be some lycra clad checkpoint girls for your viewing pleasure! Quote

Maybe his £4500 would have been better spent on a college course if he really wants a life changing challenge? Quote

v7slr Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 The premise of a fast run through a few countries is very appealing. The Se7ens list tours are run on that very principle (on a more agreeable budget to me) but my objections to both the Cannonball and Gumball events (as televised) is that it appears to be more about the parties and the bragging than the actual cars and driving. Perhaps the televised events are simply edited by that Northern Max Power knob to reflect the parties rather than the driving. It's obvious from the recent Vroom programme that not every TV presenter/editor/programme maker understands how best to present cars and car enthusiasts like those people associated with Top Gear do. I would like to see a bit more coverage of this one. £4500 is more than I'd pay but I accept that my focus is less about decent Hotels and meals and more about my (currently absent) car. It's not unreasonable to bias a run slightly in favour of a different market. Good luck and do write in with your experience. I'd like to see more about your car too. Sound interesting. Quote
