Lordbenny Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Some of you may remember me, I sold my Westy about 3 months ago to get my Cannonballruneurope promo car, a 400bhp WRC Ford Focus. Well all's going well, we've booked the hotels, track day & organised the parties. There's still a few spaces available if any of you are interested, I know of at least one Westy thats done it before. I'll bring the car along to one of the Surrey meets at the Parrot soon. Oh, & by the way, I WILL get another Westy one day, you really can't beat 'em for fun. Quote
hogman Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I would love to do this event but the £10k entry fee is abit beyond me!!!!! Bet you will have a great time, always looks lots of fun if not a bit knackering!!!!! Cheers Kevin Quote
Lordbenny Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 10 grand!!!Hold on a minute you've got yer facts wrong there! It's a mere £4500 per car, thats £2250 each presuming your taking a partner. That's about what you'd pay for a decent 'normal' holiday. The Cannonball Run Europe is a life changing experience! Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 That's about what you'd pay for a decent 'normal' holiday. Not here it's not [/tight A***] Quote

Al Yupright Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Calling yours a "WRC" is probably stretching things a bit isnt it? Which WRC events has it competed in !? Quote
oioi Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 or you could do a proper endurance event guild of motor endurance rally in Sardinia £600 per person wish i was doing it this year Quote
Eastern_Westie Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I'd have to sell the car first to pay the entrance fee. Do they accept entrants who would do the course on foot? Quote
Blatman Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I too struggle with the concept of paying several thousand pounds to drive on public roads. And if the entrants are anything like what we've seen on telly, then I'm afraid I wouldn't want to join in even if you were paying me several thousand pounds, rather than the other way round... Quote
Eastern_Westie Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Absolutely!! I could get that sort of behaviour down my local boozer, go on quite a few track days (where, incidentally, I won;t be banged up in a local clink) and still have a few quid left out of the Cannonball entry fee for a few upgrades. I know which one I'd rather spend my hard-earned on..... Quote
Martin Keene Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 And if the entrants are anything like what we've seen on telly, then I'm afraid I wouldn't want to join in even if you were paying me several thousand pounds, rather than the other way round... I've had the mis-fortune of meeting one on the road too... Well he had a gum-ball sticker on the back of his car at least, never come across somebody so far up his own We were going along a local dual carriageway approaching a roundabout. He was in lane 1, and I was in lane 2, he was a cars length ahead (his RH rear corner was level with my LH front corner) when he decided to take a racing line through the round about, nearly forcing me onto the round about, I gave a good blast of horn to show my disapproval and overtook on the otherside of the roundabout. He was following close during the next length of dual carriage way, but not so close to cause alarm, then on the exit of the next round about he undertook me to pull alongside and started waving his fist out of the car and trying to drive me into the central reservation. Not wishing to get invloved with this nutter, I hit the brakes, and to quote Top Gun, he flew right by. Now, in front in lane 2 he slows down hoping I'm going to undertake (like I'm that stupid) when he realises I'm not, he unlease's his plan B, brake testing! I slow down and let him get on with it. My refusal to play ball only seemed to enrage him more... With him ahead at the next round about, I snuck off into a side turning, when he had already gone past, and left the tw*t to his own little fight with himself... Quote
