V 8 Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 After 3 months rebuilding the Flymo, on Easter Sunday when all back together, the starter motor expired. All those at Croft will have seen the shenanigans in getting the car started, and having to blag my way to the front in order to avoid overheating. The marshals were very helpful, and a satiafactory day ensued. The car didn't break. The starter is an Ark Racing reduction gear type, and the clutch was knackered. I phoned the company, the owner, Nick Beere, was very friendly and helpful and offered to recondition it that very day while I waited, in light of the coming weekend at Aintree. When I arrived, I had a cup of tea, and was amazed at the cleanliness and professionalism of his business. he was unsure if he could help me as the starter was now obsolete, but robbed some other bits, and with some machining the job was done!! he spent 2 hours doing this, and to my mind, went well beyond the boundaries you would normally expect in terms of service, advice and help. This was also reflected in the price. He does a whole range of products, and will make bespoke flywheels and ringear to order. The company is near Stafford, and I would like to voice a very public thankyou. His site can be found here Quote

John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Ah - Nick Beere. An old mate of mine and a Curborough expert with a 1400 turbo charged K series single seater producing well over 300 bhp. Not surprising as he used to work for Rover. A top bloke who does things properly. John Quote
