neilwillis Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 The M42 Active Traffic Management system goes fully LIVE on 1st April, for the safety of your driving licence and bank account please be aware.. Between Junc 3 (M40 Junc) and Junc 7b (M6 second junc) there are NINETY SIX Gatso style camera's, the most located between Junc 5 and 6 (Solihull and NEC), there are 8 per gantry. If you thought that was bad, there are now (live on 1st April) TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY SIX digital specs camera's which measure your average speed over this stretch of motorway, and they have a TWO mph tolerance. You won't see a flash off these, just the rattling of the letter box when the fine comes through Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 It might be a repost but IS IT TRUE? We should be told. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Do we need to put an advert in Wanted section for an M42 Test Driver Quote
Blatman Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I'll do it. I just need someone with a short memory to lend me their car Quote
neilwillis Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 I'll find out in a few days I think. I was on the M42 on April 1st Quote
v7slr Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Are we sure they're specs cameras? The specs cameras I've seen before on the M6 Birmingham roadworks a couple of years back and on that bridge section of the M6 oop norf (also a couple of years back) face you. There are no forward facing cameras on the M42 apart from traffic master ones and general traffic-control ones. The obvious speed cameras look like Gatsos which are situated immediately behind the active speed signs, are rear facing and look like they have a flash at first glance, although the "flash" turns out to be white square upon closer inspection. In addition, the markers on the road lend strength to the argument that they are Gatsos. Quote
Eastern_Westie Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Yes, there are both Gatsos and Specs cameras. I understand that the Gatsos have been live for a few weeks - I saw one flash from the gantry when someone overtook me. Time to get some of those James Bond style revolving plates on the car, I think.... Quote
Guest Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 With all the dirt on the roads at present it is amazing how well covered some number plates get. I believe a spray of WD 40 aids this process!! But of course I would not know from personal experience. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 M42 apart from traffic master ones and general traffic-control ones. Looks like we've found our volunteer then .................... there are speed cameras installed Quote
cidersurfer Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 Might as well start handing out direct debit mandates... Quote
