Can someone help please.

Tried ad-aware - norton scans etc. but to no avail.

Everytime I use Internet Explorer, to say log on to the boardroom or any website for that fact, an additional window opens in IE with a different website in it evey time. this occasion is "Ocean finance".

http://www.tbg-adserve.com/oceanex....5000000

There is no properties to the window.

How do I stop this happening, as I can't find what is causing it. Nothing abnormal in ad remove programs, have cleared the cache, deleted all the cookies.

Aaaaaaaaaaarrrrggggggghhhhhhhh!

HELP  :bangshead:

TIA

Seems someone else is having the same problem

here but there are no solutions put forward yet - I'd keep an eye on that topic.

Have u used SpyBot? I find that to be a good spyware removal program: Spybot here.

If it was me I'd be checking the processes which are running and searching the registry and startup files, but it depends how deep you want to delve.

Oh - Yes, Just switch to Firefox. It's better!  ;)

If you've got 'genuine windows' you could try the Microsoft AntiSpyware package it works quite well.

Windows antispyware has now been replaced with Defender, personally I think its crap, the old version was much better.

As mentioned try Spybot, usually gets rid of the hardcore spyware.  Also has expert features to stop homepage being ammended.

Try Tools > Pop up blocker.

Play with the settings and see if it stops.

If not, as has been mentioned, see what programmes are running *before* you fire up IE by pressing [CTRL] [ALT] [DEL], then do the same after opening IE. Any extra programme(s) in the list other than IE is the culprit, and a Google/Yahoo search using the abbreviated name in the list shouild throw it up quite nicely. If it's an installed programme it should be in the Add/Remove programmes list. If not then it'll be a registry entry that needs removing, which, as long as you're careful, is nowhere near as scary as you may have been led to believe...

Still not got this sorted  :bangshead:  :bangshead:  :bangshead:

Have now run windows malicious software remover, spybot, Ad-aware & Norton IS 2006. all to no avail.

HELP PLEASE  :bangshead:  :bangshead:  before I throw it out the window.

Also have items in the favorites toolbar that when right clicked say "close toolbar" not the normal list with delete/properties etc.

Everytime I surf with IE a 2nd window appears on the toolbar and shoots off to all sorts of gambling sites / financial advertising.7175.jpeg

Switch to firefox.

From our IT bods:

If you have the Mozilla Firefox web browser installed on your computer then

please make sure that you update to the latest version (1.5.0.2) as soon as

possible.

There have been some serious security flaws found in the software, that have now

been fixed if you download/install the latest version from the website below:

http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

While I still use (and prefer) Firefox, it would seem that they've been resting on their laurels a bit. Unfortunately the lack of direct attacks/exploits means tha unlike IE they haven't been forced to improve at the same rate. In a number of independant tests a little while ago, they'd fallen behind not only Opera but Internet Explorer as well   :(

Hopefully the latest version should improve matters.
