studbuckle Posted April 7, 2006 Author Posted April 7, 2006 ta but I need something for 10 days. Good Friday to week following Monday. Looks like a hire car it is Quote
studbuckle Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 BTT, Coast2Coast next weekend and as organisors our choice of wheels: 2.0 Petrol Auto Kia Magentis or 1.8 Petrol Auto Mitsubishi Pinin. Pinin it will be. Looking at the boxes we've got to take up with Roadbooks and T-shirts in it'll be bl**** full though. Just faled miserably to get a Landy demo out of any of the local dealerships and my 'personal' buying power while it stretches to 20K for a Discovery Series II they don't do demos on used cars like that. How the hell am I going to find out if a Disco 3 or II is going to be comfortable on a long journey for me when all my long journeys are over 3-4 days .... angry, blue. Quote
budmikem Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 lucky to get a test drive from LR dealer for one hour if your spending £60k for a new RR. customer services is a 'no' word to anything associated with a product from Solihull !! Quote

The guys at the local dealership level probably wouldn't because: 1 - They don't need to.. The Disco is selling like hot cakes. 2 - They're just salesmen! 3 - Lease/company sales probably wouldn't go through them anyway. The local Landrover Experience won't do anything coz they're actually just a franchise and not part of Landrover. IMO - Your best bet is to have a chat with someone at Landrover HQ, Gaydon, Warwickshire. 01926 641111. Try and talk to someone in sales/marketing, explain the situation with your surgery, etc... and see if there's anything that they can do. You might want to throw in that it doesn't even need to be a brand spanking new one as you really like the Disco III but you just need to see if your back is OK. Give it a go & report back.... Again... That's coz the dealers are just salesmen. That said, there are some good ones but they are few and far between. You have to remember that the dealers just own a franchise and when you've got a car like the Disco III or the RaRo Sport that sells itself without them lifting a finger, the sales guys get lazy. As a consumer, faced with poor customer service, you just have to vote with your feet. FWIW... Things are changing (for the better) within LR on the sales front. They have been trialing some new things over the past couple of months but you'll still have the problems you experienced at a local level. M Quote
studbuckle Posted May 27, 2006 Author Posted May 27, 2006 I must admit that the central marketing team are red hot. Targeted marketing, very good quality etc. Will give Gaydon a call. Thanks Camel Quote
