Anyone know anyone who knows anyone who can sort out a 10 day test drive of a Discovery or V6 Freelander? (or similar as long as it's auto)

I'm in the process of getting work to change my company Skoda to something Automatic with a higher driving position to help me recover following surgery on my spine last year.

However, internal politics means it's taking its time and we've got a holiday in the North of Scotland booked for Easter week. I could take Carla's Pinin but that's wear and tear and it's not great at long distances.

PLUS our own fleet manager who would normally sort these things out is in a 'dont care state' as he's leaving in a fortnight so i'm a bit stuck.

Long shot but anyone got any contacts?

What about a side car and motorbike? That will give you the upright position and easy gear change :p:p

Trying talking to the Business Sales bod at your local Land Rover dealership, explain the predicatment, and see what happens.

Dealerships generally try a lot harder to accomodate for business deals as they hope there will be lots more sales, etc at the end of it. My old man has had extended test drives before without too much trouble, not quite 10 days, but it has got to be worth a punt.

si - some friends of mine run courses with landrover - woodsmoke - following a couple of links there is a landrover experience near you - landrover experince in skipton they may have one that you could hire?

I doubt my friends will be able to help but if you get desperate let me know

If they won't lend it to you, why not see if they will rent you one at the corporate rate.  ???  ???  :D  :D

Thanks for the ideas. Tried a local dealer and he'd already loaned 'us' (that's the company) a discovery 3 for a week but didn't get a sale. Mainly becuase it was the FD who used it who then ordered a Renault Espace!!!

My ever helpful boss offered to lend me his manual, petrol, 4 year old Passat. Gee thanks, that really helps with my problem :bangshead:

Boing.

So, not then? Will consider pretty much anything of that ilk. Had a Ford Ranger for the last few days and even that was more comfortable than the Skoda although Carla didn't rate the ride quality with painful ankle.

Si, just saw this.

One of the blokes over on the Touareg forum managed to hire a couple for extended test drives before he made his purchase. He was based in the Coventry area.

Might be worth a try.....??

Touareg is one fo the things I would consider actually. All the VW dealers round here 'know' me from when I ran a Bora into the ground though .... worth seeing if the business sales managers have changed though I suppose

Just seen an advert for the new Jeep Grand Cherokee "Overland" (I think) and I'm sure they said they were taking bookings for weekend test drives. Not sure if they mean a test dtrive at the weekend, or a test drive for the whole weekend. May be worth a shout though...
