Numptie Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Hi, In previous seasons, I’ve competed in a road class (Scottish A4). This season, I’ve entered in a modified class (Scottish B4). It’s only just occurred to me that the scruteneers will ask me for a MSA log book – which I don’t have ... and I'm competing this weekend ... what a tit! I’m currently leafing through the blue book to see if there’s any guidance but thought someone here will surely know straight off. It looks like the scruteneers will be able to provide / generate a log book on the day. Is that so? I'll try and contact the organising club to make prior arrangement - assuming it's possible. Seems like I'll have to provide ... 1) A photo of the side elevation of the car. 2) A photo of the front 3/4 showing the reg plate. 2) Sight of the original V5 and a copy. 3) £25 Anything else I'll need to have with me? BTW – the car’s on a SORN at the moment and won’t need an MOT ‘til May. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Eric Quote
adhawkins Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Do you need a log book even if the car is road legal? That might be the easiest way. I was asked for one at Ty Croes last year (I was running in a 'modified' class on the day as there wasn't an equivalent to class F) and just told him the car was road legal (and had all the documentation to prove it) and he seemed happy. Numptie Posted April 3, 2006 Author Posted April 3, 2006 Hi Andy. My plan is that the car won't be road legal. Contingency is that I can swap tyres and run in a road class. Cheers, Eric Quote
Paul Ranson Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 The easiest way would be to call one of the scrutineers on duty at your next event and explain you need a log book and would he do it during the event? Strictly you need one before hand but in practice most scrutineers are helpful people. (I don't remember being asked for the logbook once last season, but if you don't have one it's bound to come up, and then you have to plead ignorance or incompetence.) Paul Quote
Numptie Posted April 3, 2006 Author Posted April 3, 2006 ... ignorance or incompetence ... Either suits me. Thanks for the reply. I've been in contact with the chairman of the host club and he confirms it'll be ok on the day. I've also sent a note to their comp sec advising him in case the scrut's need a heads-up. Cheers, Eric Quote
Numptie Posted April 12, 2006 Author Posted April 12, 2006 Got sorted - no problem. Spoke to the chief scrute on the Saturday morning and he said he'd sort it out during the day. He'd already checked the car over so all it took was filling out the appropriate form with such details as ... • Make, model, engine type / size etc. • My name and address. • Year, registration and chassis number. • Roll bar type (as per 'Q' pics in the blue book). • Fuel tank type, location, material and size. • The fact that I don't have an extinguisher. • The types of events the car would be entered for. He didn't need to see the V5 but it was useful for the chassis number. It did need a photo which he took. MSA cost is £27 and we agreed on £30 to cover him for the photo and postage. I've got a receipt which will cover me for 30 days and I'll get the book through the post from the MSA in due course. Very pleasant and helpful fella. Cheers, Eric Quote
