Bean Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 I removed my windscreen over the weekend, where the bolts through the side held the screen to the scuttle there's a few cracks in the fibreglass. It looks like the bolts were over tightened. Is it worth trying to repair the cracks? Chances are the aeroscreen will cover the old fixing holes. Quote
MAT1800 Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 I noticed a small crack in my body work after I fitted it... I just drilled a very small hole at the end of the crack to stop it spreading and it had been fine since. Quote
Phil. S Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Just fitted the Plays Kool aeroscreen and it didn't cover the old mounting holes. I fitted a motorbike tax disk holder in one, and m6 allen head bolts in the others for now. I will however try to repair mine later. Here's a blurry picture in case it helps. Quote
Bean Posted April 3, 2006 Author Posted April 3, 2006 Only one of the holes, out of four has some cracking around it. It's also one of the higher drilled holes for the windscreen mounts. I've got a load of M6 anodised bolts, they'll have to do for now. Quote
Thrustyjust Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 I put a wad of black sealant under the pillars. It will act as a shock absorber and you won't have to over tighten the bolts, so stopping any further damage. Quote

Thanks for the picture, where did you get the tax holder and the edging strip round the aeroscreen? Quote
Phil. S Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 The tax disk holder I got off good ole ebay. There are some similar ones QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem" target="_blank">here The edging I got from Westfield. It's the same edging they use for their aeroscreen. If you want a hand fitting the screen I'd be happy to pop over. You're only about 35 minutes from me. It'd give me an excuse to take the Westy out and you could learn from my mistakes. Quote

If you don't mind. that'd be excellent. Was planning on fitting either this weekend or next. I'm afraid I copied you, bought a tax disk holder. Just phoned Westfield to buy the strip, the guy is going to send it free of charge. Excellent service Quote
Phil. S Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I could do this Saturday, but not Sunday or next weekend. Quote
