a4drk Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 A lot of damage – The Engine has been moved – so this indicates that the engine mountings on the chassis has been twisted. Needs a new radiator & cooling fan. He said that fan blades don’t normally break on side impact damage. Needs a new power steering rack New wheel hub / bearing / buckled alloy Wing 2 doors Back bumper “A” Post Inner “A” Post "B" Post Rear quarter Possible dash board Glove box & There’s damage to the bulkhead Original post here Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Probably just as well - you wouldn't want it back after such extensive repairs, would you? ABS ought to have an off switch for snowy days, maybe. Quote
gadrego Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Probably just as well - you wouldn't want it back after such extensive repairs, would you? ABS ought to have an off switch for snowy days, maybe. I've always thought EBD needs an off switch for icy conditions. You can be driving along on a sheet of ice with the brakes on and if one wheel happens to come upon a patch of grip, the whole car pivots around it. Bit dangerous if you as me. Anyway, back on topic, its deifnatley better not to get that back, any chassis damage, and I wouldn't want to drive it again. Quote
Martin Keene Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Got to be £10k plus. With that much movement in the A pillar the bulkhead was always going to be questionable, I am surprised then engine has moved though. Maybe it has pushed a chassis leg or something as well. Quote
markcoopers Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 You forgot to include all the T-cut as well Quote
KerryS Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 It's suprising what seemingly minor damage can cause extensive repairs but there again I guess this is down to modern design methods where energy is absorbed progessively over the structure. All to do with protecting the frail little thing who hold the steering wheel. Kerry Quote

Buzz Billsberry Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Probably just as well - you wouldn't want it back after such extensive repairs, would you? Why not? it will be put back together properly and a far better job than the Audi production line.especially if its a far eastern built/produced shell ! Buzz Quote
