JonnyBoy Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 definately look for a commercial grade surface paint as they'd use in warehouses. Any warehouse blokes here with any catalogues? I'd have some but I just finished my warehousing job and forgot the name of the company who's brochure i'd flick through on the odd lunch hour. The WATCO stuff looks about right though. Its all in the prep too! Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Got any going begging I could make a home for some tiles I've just sealed the 10 year old concrete floor in my garage ready for painting. Backs better then Quote
Thrustyjust Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Barry, you want to pop up and get them, help yourself. Quote
KerryS Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I used two sheets of 6mm rubber matting from Machine Mart and sold them BOGOF when finished. Concrete floors are cold whatever you paint them with. Stood the 4 axle stands on it until engine was in and then lowered it onto it's wheels. Definitely better than the concrete. I had to lie on this to change the sump after the sheeting was sold. Cold! Chris Elworthy Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Go to Northern Tool & Equipment and search for product 67910E-150 I was going to try 2 rolls of this stuff Incidentally, their catalogue is superb....lots of Garage toys Quote
brianm Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Having spent a bl**** fortune in floor paints and ceramicote, (scuse similarity) factory floor coatings, (at home and at work)I wouldn't go that way. Your first comment on tiling the floor is possibly the best option. Done properly will be servicable, easyclean and will outlast your use of the garage. You just need to find a supplier of 2nd Quality, possibly skblu pink, flooring tiles and jobs a guddon. I cant believe anyone who actually uses there garage , would consider carpeting the deck. The main function needs to be permanent, easy clean and hopefully non slip. B. Quote
studbuckle Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I've just sealed the 10 year old concrete floor in my garage ready for painting. Backs better then yes.... Had to do it in 4 'shifts' but It was ok. First manual work i've done since September! Quote
hilux Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I cant believe anyone who actually uses there garage , would consider carpeting the deck. I`m afraid I have to agree, any grease and oil spills etc will simply sit there contaminating anything it touches for ever. Note also that carpet will act as a huge sponge and soak up moisture thereby trapping it, thereby inducing a nice humid damp garage, exactly the opposite of what you need to store a car in. Use an industrial floor mat to lie on, warm, is a carpet and can be steam cleaned/ washed to clean, its a no brainer IMO Quote
Mid life crisis Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I bought a stack of end of life laminate flooring, sort of dirty grey slate effect from a local DIY place. Think I payed about £1.25 for a box of 6 lengths. They do the job nicely. Quote
Bananaman Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I'm finally getting round to sorting out the garage floor but am unsure what to use. The garage is only 3 years old so the floor is in good nick, but very dusty. Area is about 25m2 (double garage) and I don't want to spend much more than £100. Anyone have any useful advice, tips, or knowledge of a hole in a tile warehouse Rubber Matting - Smooth - 3mm - 1000mm x 5M £23.44 inc.VAT / Length....... x3 Not used it myself but looks like it'd be just right for your budget Quote
