Richgm Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Just had an email from Barclays asking me to confirm my details due to a software upgrade. It's a very good fake and even the header has been forged so it looks like it comes from Barclays. If you get one and look at the link it's got barclays.co.uk/customercare..... but the link is actually barclays.co.uk.customercare.goto........ You have been warned. Rich Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Forward it to: reports@banksafeonline.org.uk they monitor this sort of thing. Quote
Richgm Posted March 11, 2006 Author Posted March 11, 2006 Have forwarded it to internetsecurity@barclays.co.uk They can deal woth it now. Quote
adhawkins Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 As with all e-mails like this, never click on a link in an e-mail asking for your security details. Your bank will never ask for this information in this way. Always type the address into your browser, or if you must click a link, check that it goes where you expect it to. FWIW, I've been getting these for ages, from all sorts of banks (including ones in the States that I've never heard of). Andy Quote

Stuart Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 I'm getting those ones from Nigeria wanting to make me a multi-millionaire on a daily basis at the mo. Read somewhere recently that chip and pin has been so successful in reducing physical card fraud that it is turning the rats and mice more and more to the www. Quote
