The Great Fandango Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Geeeeeez! It's been several months in the waiting but got her back on the road today for my first 10 minute "test blat". Had been plagued with problems and it eventually boiled down to dodgy starter, dodgy battery, and a screwed (brand new) Viper immobiliser! I'm the first to admit that my 2.0l zetec is a complete b******* to start in the cold and I expect there's an inherant problem I'm not yet aware of. HOWEVER, weird thing happened today... FINALLY fired her up, but not ticking over so well. Engine looked a little off-balance, rocking around. Soon found out within half a mile as I began to open her up that she was only firing on three cylinders and the temperature was creeping up. Just approaching a roundabout to make that all important limp home (not yet with AA or RAC) when she went mental!... ... Loud bangs, pops, constant flames out the side, kangarooing... and then... ...as if by magic ... ... all was quiet ... ... She was running perfectly!!! Power was there again, temperature went down and I promptly overtook 5 sunday drivers all in a row! Hoorah!!! Quote

Kevin Wood Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 I'd be checking all the earth points for a loose connection. It's too much of a coincidence that the gauges went haywire at the same time as it started misfiring. Kevin Quote
