a4gom Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Seen adverts for it but ignored it till now, just installed it tonight and had a 34min live video chat with my mate and his family in new zealand and it cost me nowt. Kin ace in my opinion. Quote
doug price Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Have been using it for about three weeks now think it is fantastic, cuts down on the phone bills, very clear when talking. Quote
stu.graham Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Been using it for the past 6 months, saved a fortune speaking to my brother in China!!!!Superb sound quality. Also great for other family and friends, only down side you need to be at the computer, but I think that is changing; so soon you will be able to route it through to a land line phone HTH Stu Quote
oldman Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Skype....wot the kin sort of name is that? Quote
Chasmon Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Used it for about 6 months now. I also use "Skype out" which cost around 1p per minute but allows you to call any land line in the world. Used it to call OZ and Kenya, but only Kenyan land lines and mobiles as the internet is pretty poor there out in the sticks there. Quote
markcoopers Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 use it for work, look like Byonce or similar. Still makes the office Quote
blankczechbook Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 it is good - better than online chat via messenger, as skype in and skype out do work. but a friend has a satellite internet connection and their phone is terrible - at least for the first few mins. normal connections seem good - even isdn. Fat Albert Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 but a friend has a satellite internet connection and their phone is terrible Satellite connections provide downlink only (i.e. from you to them), the uplink is provided through a dial up connection, which is why 'from them to you' is poor quality Quote
Fat Albert Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 This gadget plugs into your pc and provides Skype connectivity to any standard DECT handset (i.e. normal wireless house phones), make and receive calls from landlines or Skype at will £39.95 from here Quote
