detailer Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Been asked if I'm interested in a fully mapped ignition system for a my Xflow. This I'm told has come off another Westfield with 1700 Xflow and will fit straight to my car. Will this make a big difference to the car (getting rid of existing points, dizzy etc..). What sort of money 2nd hand would you expect to pay for it? No other parts I'm told are required and it will eliminate pre detonation. Is this right Quote
gadrego Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Not sure about value of such a system but you should notice a bid difference in low end pick up and general drivability. Should also improve fuel economy as well. What you're unlikely to get is anymore power but the car will probably feel generally faster. It sounds like a good deal if the price is right. Quote
pistonbroke Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 2nd those comments , you should get rid of any ignition flat spots with a good map. Should be more fuel efficient Price 2nd hand depends ,market forces , age, condition, etc. Its really only worth whatever the seller can get for it at the time Has he told you his price ? Quote
Jonah Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 That seems very expensive. What make is the system. Pete Jones Quote
perksy Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Between 500 and 600 quid. Errrr that's Expensive.... You could put together a Megajolt for around £150 and that would give you 3D programmable ignition for your x-flow. x-flow install is here: CLICKY Click on : projects and then Megajolt 3D Speak to Bill shurvinton if you don't fancy putting the ECU together yourself. detailer Posted February 25, 2006 Author Posted February 25, 2006 Thanks Perksy - Ill look into it. Incidentally were Pinky today? Quote
cng1 Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 500-600 quid sounds madly expensive. 150 quid gets you all the bits to do a megajolt install, spend a bit more and you can get a megasquirt which will do the ignition now and give you the option of going for fuel injection later. Quote
