dern Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Personally feel anything much over 200 bhp would be pretty well wasted on a road going westfield but I suppose some one will be along to disagree :waves: Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 200bhp in a road car is enough my road car has 210bhp and I dont think I need more my race car has 227bhp and is 50kg lighter and yep I would love more Quote
steve_m Posted February 22, 2006 Author Posted February 22, 2006 Thanks, so 230ish bhp would be *significantly* faster than 175 bhp ! Good. Having once again, left it too late to get the turbo system sorted on my car, despite having a stock of parts inc Carrillo con rods, pistons, intercooler, new gearbox etc etc and turbo bits on order, I'm left with a dilema - do I a put the engine back in and just drive it, b take the engine to SBD and ask for more power - both a and b give me a car for the spring and summer, or c get the turbo conversion fitted and drive it late summer ? If 230bhp is going to be quick then I might just do that, it also keeps the original nature of the engine which I like and doesn't need intercooler plumbing, bigger radiator, all sorts of extras. I was just concerned that having been in a 300bhp turbo Hayabusa 7 and knowing how fast that was (mind bending, at least in a straight line) that a 230-240bhp engine would be a disapointment. 175bhp was too slow after about 4 weeks and positively boring last year. Anybody with a turbo wish they'd not gone the turbo route or anybody with a serious n/a Hayabusa engine wish they had a turbo engine ? Quote
JeffC Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 I stewed on 1400cc / turbo / supercharger back end of last year, couldnt decide so in the end did nowt.. almost went down the 1400cc head/cams road , think from memory i had it priced up at around £1300 for the conversion doing the work myself , seemed easiest cheapest option? was quoted on a 250bhp turbo conversion at £2900. but after not driving the car for 4 months it felt like a rocket tother week im sure a few weeks into spring i"ll be on the hunt for more power again.. going to try for a go in a holeshot turbo car in march , see if that inspires me to part with some wedge Quote
