Power increase of 50bhp

Has anybody increased the power of their car from 170ish to 230-240ish bhp ?

Can you really tell the difference ?  Is it much faster or just a buit quicker ?  Any 1/4mile times ?  Was it worth the hassle and cost ?

Yes, yes, much, no idea, yes

you would think that would be a noticable difference and i would hope to see a big gain but.......

round Croft Ive had my standard 1300  busa (170 ish bhp )against a 1400cc  busa with   head + cams etc  think they are suppose to be 220 bhp ??? , on the pit straight out the hairpin  in 2nd gear up to 5 th gear the 1400cc car  could  go from behind me to level with my nosecone before  we had to brake ...

what you got in mind ??? are you going to be buying one of those resistors off ebay ?

for sure it would be noticable.. quicker  acceleration,, but probably fairly pricey to acheive.cant give any figures but im sure some others will be able to.

compare something like a bmw and its m series equivalent and theres a massive difference.

if there wasnt much difference people just wouldnt bother.

hth darren :D

I went from a 180bhp car to a 250bhp car and the answer is a BIG YES.........LOT'S.......???..........YES but it hurt my ££££

Based on a 600kg car weight that would be an increase of about 100bhp/ton ................................I think you should notice a difference  :0  :0  :0  :0

I own a 165 bhp wessy and have driven a 230bhp machine

and yes there is a difference ,much more of a kick in the back on full volume and also found it much easier to lose the rear end when accelerating hard out of tighter bends / corners  :)

The biggest improvement I thought was from 60 mph +

Personally feel anything much over 200 bhp  would be pretty well wasted on a road going westfield but I suppose some one will be along to disagree   :t-up:
