Guest Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I have a 1989 se with a escort mk1 pedal box, i have been told the master cylinder is off a mk111 cortina is this correct ?. Where can i get one at reasonable money, i have been quoted £150 (SOUNDS A LOT TO ME) exchange ,£2oo not exchange!!!!!! Quote
adhawkins Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 That is a lot. You could get the AP racing one from Westfield for about that! Andy Quote
adamnreeves Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 That is a lot. You could get the AP racing one from Westfield for about that! Andy £197.40 inclusive. Westfield AP MBC Quote
Blatman Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I don't think the AP cylinder is a straight swap though. The best place to try for a replacement for the Mk3 'Tina master cylinder would probably be Brakes International. Quote
Guest Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I still need to find out if it is definatly a mk111 cortina one Quote
Guest Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 It was brakes international who quoted me!!!! Quote
S8ight Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 try westfield, think they are just over £110 inc ?? any old ford specialist is worth a try. pretty certain it was the same one on the reliant robin (honest) Quote
blankczechbook Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 does it look like this at010046 cylinder 19.05mm dia at054719 rebuild kit. some extra cross ref numbers for you... 1563516 OE Ford 4006633007856 ATE 6016236 OE Ford 6069635 OE Ford AT03211905253 ATE if so a rebuild kit could work out at about 25quid, or a new ate master cylinder - half what you were looking at.. without exchange! these are full price normal retail prices i am quoting.. i made the mistake of not searching around hard enough after my went all soft, and after changing the cylinder for another type - i then found this from my supplier. now its hard again folks. Arm Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 My 89 chassis uses the Mk3 Cortina non servo master cyl. If I were buying a replacement I would have the AP unit from Westfield and mod the pedal box to make it fit. Quote
Arm Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I hate to say it but I think Caterham use the same AP one and it might be cheaper. Heritage must make the parts cheaper too ! Quote
Blatman Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Caterham do indeed use the same AP cylinder as Westfield Quote
adhawkins Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 One just come up for sale in Parts for Sale... Andy Quote
