Nissan 350Z

Had a tough weekend.  :D

A mate is about to start driving again and I've had to test drive a couple of cars for him this weekend as he's not allowed behind the wheel again yet. Audi TT Sport Quattro (240), a Mazda RX8 and a BMW 320. We also looked at the Honda S2000, BMW Z4 and the Nissan 350Z. Couldn't get a drive in the 350Z though which was a shame as he liked it in the showroom. I'm gonna try to get in one this week though, anyone out there had a go in one and willing to share an opinion?  :t-up:

What did he think of the Z4. I have a Z4 3.0.... never test drove the Nissan, but test drove the rest.

If he was put off by the harsh ride just change the run flat tyres for normal tyres, more grip, softer ride and no tramlining....

Didn't drive the Z4 as he's unsure about wanting a soft top and his boss has got one. Nice car though :t-up:

To be honest I think the Z4 looks better with a hardtop..... :):)

Chap at work is selling his RX8 because the fuel consumption is so bad, it's had a couple of ECU upgrades but he's still only getting 18mpg !  Apart from that he loves it.

They are doing a Z4 Coupe later this year I believe - ment to be cheaper than the soft top as well

Thought about the VW Golf R32?

Second hand MkIV's are appearing, or you can go for what I have and get a MkV with the DSG gearbox and 250horses. Nice V6 soundtrack, and am getting 28mpg!

Cheers,

Mark

I put the R32 on his list but he didn't bite.  :(

Been into Nissan in Exeter today and they're being really helpful and letting me out in one later in the week.  :t-up: Considering they're not getting anything out of it (mate lives in Worcestershire) they're being really good!

Nissan without a doubt. It's probably the only coupe I'd get if I had to sell the 911 and they keep their value remarkably well.

350Z is a great car to drive.  I drove one in November at Jontahan Palmer's place.

Superb for drifting, and quite easy to control ( the instructors really do encourage you to go for it).  However, I don't think you'd be encouraged to do this on a test drive!!

I kept hitting 4th when I should have been going down for 2nd, I put that down to the excitement, apart from that drove rally well.

Most of the other guys there on the day raved about the car, a good all round vehicle.   :D

There is a few 350z 2005 models in the compound ,ask the dealer to do a deal!!

Ive ordered mine 280 BHP against 300 BHP not a lot else

Base model has LSD ESP and Brembo Brakes

GT has leather interior and cruise control BOSE Hi Fi

GT Altea has bright orange leather :arse:

GT Altea Rays has Rays alloys apparently 4.5 kg a wheel lighter

We thrashed the living daylight out of one at work for an hour and returned 25MPG. The ride was a little harsh on the roughest of country type roads - blurred vision at 90 coming across a tractor was interesting. Its a proper 2 seater, no funny rear seat attempt at all.

I cant compare it against the others for ride and handling so wont try, however I think the 350Z is DDG and hopefully a better fanny magnet than my Almera Tino :D

Now someone tell me why the hell I have put Stew Pickles on the insurance   :D  Sorry Emma  :p

Nice motor mate.

I can see why you have been distracted form trading real Nissan performance cars for a while

Borrowed a friend's early 350z for a weekend away when he wanted to borrow my VW bus (honestly).

Loved it, but if he's going to do many motorway miles it would be worth spending a little time seeing if he can live with a slightly boomy cabin and lots of road noise. I probably could, but the wife couldn't and we ended up taking the 5 series and leaving the Nissan on the drive...
