Gromit
Right time to get serious in the workshop again, i`m thinking of starting to make the lightened front AND rear discs again but this will involve a sustantial investment on my behalf so I want to know if people will be interested before I go ahead again. Rough spec of the discs are, Front- thinned to 10mm, 6 grooves per side with lightening slot machines out of the hub face. Rear- thinned to 8mm, 6 grooves per side with lightening hole machined into the hub face and around the perifary of the `top hat` section. All discs will come as a handed pair so the slots all point in the same direction. Target prices will be in the region of £90 for the front and £96 for the rear (Note this is for a pair of discs). I havnt got any pic to post at the moment but should be able to sort some soon. Feel free to ask questions as I really want to get these back in prodution again. All machining is CNC so the finish will be spot on (technical term ) Thanks Phil

stu999
Gromit - would you be able to work your magic on discs other than standard Westfield fit? I would like some Sierra rear discs modded if possible. Potentially interested in some front discs, but this going to be dictated by the calipers I finally decide to use on the front... Gromit
What are you thinking of having done, stu?
stu999
The rear brakes on my car use Sierra 4x4 rear discs, as opposed to Mk3 Escort front discs. I was hoping you might be able to thin and 'swiss cheese' a pair of these for me Jury is still out with regard to the front brakes. I am buying some alloy calipers, but I am undecided as to increase the size of the discs at the same time. The only reason I am going to change the calipers is to save weight - I am more than happy with the power of the Cortina setup. But larger discs may give the pedal a bit more feel/control, and the brakes may not get quite so hot - which also means I will be happier to run thinner discs. Stu. Steven (WE51STE)
Hi, Just a quick question. What are the weights of the original parts and what will be the weight of the machined parts. Hence we can work out what will be the total weight saving ;-) Steve
