Russell Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I am in the process of refurbishing a 96 narrow body SE and need to replace the seats. I spoke to Westfield and they no longer supply the "sports" seat to fit the narrow SE but can supply the "race" seat. As anyone will tell you who has a wider build, race seats can pinch the hips and be quite painful on a long journey so I would prefer a more accommodating seat if possible. Do any of you with the narrow bodied version have the Westfield race seats? - (these are narrower than the wide bodied race seats) if so what do you think to them. The other seat I have been looking at that will fit the 39cm tunnel to side measurement is the Intatrim Odyssey (Europa spares) this actually looks good on not having the high base sides that pinch your hips but in the pictures I have seen they do seem to have a large front bolster cushion compared with other seats. Does anyone have these, if so please share your opinions. All your comments or recommendations would be appreciated. In other words HELP before I make an expensive mistake. Just a thought does anyone have any seats that they have removed from a narrow body that they wish to sell ? Quote
Blatman Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I use Westfield race seats in my narrow, and the only thing I would replace them with is the Plays Kool R500 alike seats. There are several versions of that seat on Ebay and locost builders if you can't get them from Plays Kool. I found all the rest (Intatrim Ranger, the Cobra 7 and one other that escapes me at the moment) fairly unpleasant to sit in, and rather tight to fit inside a narrow car. You could also look at Tillet kart seats. I have seen them used to good effect, but I have never actually driven a car with them fitted so I can't comment on comfort or longevity. Quote
slippy Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Russell I recieved a mail today from a company called JK Composites after I expressed and interest in their seats at the Donington show, I've since went for the westy ones but I have to say I was well impressed with the quality of the product and the price for that matter Send me your mail address and I'll forward you the gumf Quote
Russell Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 Do you have any contact details for JK Composites or even better website info as I would really like to see a picture. In my searches on this forum I have seen reference to MK seats. Does anyone know the width of these ? The other suggestion I was given was to look at seats that are fitted to a Tiger but I have been unable to confirm the base width. Quote
Bean Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I recommend the Westie race seats, great quality and fit nicely into a narrow. They do pinch a little, depends on your size I guess. Quote
custardtart Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I got a padded race seat from my old wide body and fitted in my narrow - just. Actually it took quite a lot of effort but in it went and very nice it is too Quote
Bean Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I've also got no interior panels in my narrow, that helps a lot. Quote
slippy Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Russel I'm not sure they have a site and the picture is about one meg so It won't let me post it unless one of you chaps could resize it as my work lap top only has paint I can email it to if send me your email address Quote
gordonandmaureen Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 on the same subject has anyone fitted a Richfield 777 seat to a narrow S.E. if so is it comfortable for road use over distances ? regards from Gordon Quote
Blatman Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 The Richfield 777 is the seat I couldn't think of earlier... Quote
Martin Keene Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I use Westfield race seats in my narrow, and the only thing I would replace them with is the Plays Kool R500 alike seats. There are several versions of that seat on Ebay and locost builders if you can't get them from Plays Kool. For anybody thinking of buying R500-a-likes, I bought mine from MK Sportscars and they are much better finished than those for sale on Ebay. Quote
Chester Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I have the Intatrim Odyssey seats in a '90 SE. They will make to any colour you want and are very comfortable on a long journey. Buy direct from Intatrim - it works out quite a bit cheaper than from elsewhere. Quote
danchaff Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Hi Russell, i've just received my seat from JK Composites, very comfy, great quality and very good service. Not sure if they would fit a narrow car though, mine;s a widebody and they are quite tight. Quote
Chris R Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Hi Russel, I'm in a similar situation in choosing my next seats. I've been looking at the Titon seats from the Locost forum to fit the narrow westy. Do not know if anyone has experience of these ? Chris Quote
blakeya Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I'm also looking at a possible replacement for my Cobra Roadster 7's. Been looking at Triton seats but not sure on there quality? Got the brochure link from slippy today (Thanks) for the JK seats (They look fantastic). Anyone got any pics of the R500 or look alikes for us to see?? Andy Quote
