Impney Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 When I got a company hack , I sold my car and had cash to spare. Went to the motor show (this was in the late 80's) and met Chris Smth. I came away convinced that a Westfield was what I needed and with the intention of buing one . Spent the money on a house, but eventually managed to get the cash together to buy the first one from Terry Nightingale in 2001. Did a few sprints and hillclimbs with that car last year and will do the same again this year. Bought a pile of bits in the shape of an unfinished project (the one in the avatar) in the summer last year and having pulled it apart I'm slowly putting that together. The other half is currently under the delusion that any money made will fund a trip to Paris Quote
Mark Stanton Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Nana`s old car in a breakers (write off) Quelle surprise Jinxy hasn't changed much Quote
CedricTheBrave Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 I drove a Cat***am at a Jonathan Palmer day and got hooked into the whole 7 thing. chose a Westy due to various reasons mainly cost at the time although I ended up spending more than the Cat***am was going to cost anyway. now building my third as people keep hitting me Quote
Gromit Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Quelle surprise Jinxy hasn't changed much Oi. SHHHHH. Its already been thought a hedge (on its first day out, but that was down to rock hard rubber) and its had some muppet back into it in the summer, so hopefully now thats the misfortune out the way. deano.1 Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 In 1998 whilst i was sales manager for Britool tools one of the dealers took me into one of his calls in Belbroughton, it was a place that i can't remember the name of but that built Cobra replica kits. We managed to spend near on 3 hrs in this call and the poor dealer had to listen to me plotting to buy one for the rest of the day! I didn't buy one at the time but the subject bubbled in the background for a few years! In 2003 i decided there must be more to life than going to work, coming home, watching coronation st and going to bed every day so after talking to Emma started researching which kit to buy. I decided on a Westy for 2 basic reasons 1) The quality of the kit weighed up with the price. 2) The attitude of the Westfield people, both at the factory and in the club. It turns out that i made the right decision, the factory were brilliant during my build and are still very helpfull, the car is ace and i love it and the club is second to none (weve made some great friends since joining the club) although i will say that you lot keep making me do silly things like drive half way across the country in pouring rain to get p******** in a field and enjoy myself and as a bonus the missus loves the car and the social stuff as well Everyones a Winner Quote
Liam Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 To ward off the onset of senilty...............and it nearly worked Quote
Mark Stanton Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 so hopefully now thats the misfortune out the way I was thinking of Nana's rather than the car His tales of woe from 2005 truly deserved his Award in November Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 I blame Nigel Dean I was looking at building a cobra because I wanted a car with a V8 and never even gave sevens a thought till I say Nigel Dean's Blue Seight being built in which kit I contacted the factory via the online brochure request and the next day John rang me up to unvite me up to the factory but they had no V8 but one was being built and john said he would call when it was ready. A few weeks later he called and I made an appointment a couple of friends joined me for a day out.I went out first in the hyabusa with mark aeroscreen racing seats and hated it awesomelly fast but real uncomfortable next we went out in the Seight and that was it I was hooked I got my chequebook out and ordered the bits took me about 18 months and WX03 ZGG was born. Sold it Dec 04 to build the monster for USA2005 NOW want to build another must be mad Quote
steve_m Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 ACW about 5 years ago . . . I also remember a conversation with him where he was explaining the differences between a Robin Hood and a Westfield I didn't know much about kits in those days I was then a passenger in the Dax Rush Hayabusa turbo demo car and that sealed it for me. studbuckle Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I saw a Yellow Factory SEiGHT with exposed trumpets at a motor show many moons ago (i've still got the picture somewhere) and from then on I new I wanted one. Took me many years to be in a position to do that. Once I did, never looked back and a lot of the reasons i'm still here are the members of this club (quick pass me a hanky) Quote
david.c Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Had liked them since I was 17 and saw one chasing a Porsche 911 up the road with some to spare Then done a Ferrari driving day about 5 years ago, at which you also done a timed slalom course in a Dax Rush (was quickest in my group ) Loved the tail out fun, which reminded me of my old Escorts, and decided I needed to get one David Quote
