I can't join you as I'm doing the Duxford event.

If last year's Ultima Open Day is anything to go by, lunch time is a good time to be there, they laid on a very nice buffet.

Hi

Ive just returned home from the Ultima factory ......

A few things suprised me,

1 The factory was a lot smaller than i thought it would be

2 The factory demo car is gorgeous but has got the heaviest clutch ive ever tried!!!!!

3 The GTR demo cars very tight inside also with a tiny amount of luggage space.

The build quality of the majority of the cars is fantastic, they truly are great cars and i still want one :D  :p

cheers to all the Westfield owners who were there, a friendly bunch as usual.

kyle

ps i enjoyed Mr Marlows butties :p  :D

Hi All.

Yes, thanks to everyone who turned up and joined the Westie run from the Thames Valley - had a good day out :-)

Cheers to Ian for his navigating of the nice country back roads for a bit of fun on the homeward journey; and to Shaun for providing the route. We certainly did some naughty speeds and had a couple of close shaves with traffic in the opposite direction! And Christ, where some of the roads bumpy or what? At one large unsighted hump, at high speed, my Sat Nav was launched out of it's cradle and I nearly fell out of the bl**** car!!!

Agree about the factory; incredibly small, and but for the cars on show, not as interesting as the Westfield factory!

Regarding sitting in the demo car: if the clutch was heavy you should have tried the gear change; was as if the leaver was connected to the box via stiffly coupled scaffolding poles! Imagine it's well demanding to drive!

Despite this I'd still have one. But I bet I had just as much fun in the Westie, coming home yesterday, as I'd ever have in an Ultima; and for a fraction of the cost :-)

If anyone from our group has any digital pics of the day I'd appreciate some copies, especially Allan's in car shots on the way home. Just e-mail to my address at neil@n-hatton.demon.co.uk

Cheers,

Neil

Thanks for organising this Neil  :t-up:

Had a fun few hours with great company, those Ultima's are nice but I think I'll stick to Se7ens unless the lottery numbers come up and I can have one of each  :D

Couple of pictures

Only a couple of the Westys at the Little chef here, was a bit slow with the camera and everybody else cleared of for fuel

Line up of Ultima cars

Nice yellow GTR

Nice yellow Can Am

Another Yellow Can Am

And a Red Can Am

Deffinately think yellow and no roof is the way to go

Hi Darren.

No worries.

Like you: an Ultima would be nice, but wouldn't want to get rid of the Westie -  it's too much fun and probably more use on our roads than the Ultima.

It would have to be a chrome yellow Ultima so as to match the Westfield. Would that be a nice line-up your drive way or what? ;-)

Cheers,

Neil

I think the factory have another unit there and barns on a farm.

I saw a few westys up there, and spoke to a few people.

I've gone for the GTR as I want a door :)

But going to try hard to keep the cost down so I can keep the westy.

I went in the Green one and met up with some fellow VX220ers, but I didn't see any Westy's. :bangshead:

Mind you we all left around 12.30 to go for a meal at The Wentworth Arms in Elmesthorpe (which was v.yummy). :)
