Martin Keene Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I've just sold a heart rate monitor on Ebay to a guy in the Isle of Wight. I bought it a few years ago when I had this stupid notion of joining a gym, un-surprisingly it didn't last long and the monitor has spent the last two years stashed in a draw. The guy has contacted me saying it doesn't work. It should say OFF on the watch screen when it's not in use, and it currently says nothing and doesn't do anything when it is worn. My guess is the battery is flat. He is saying it is not up to him to do the running around to get a new battery and I should have tested it first, can I get a battery and post it to him. Options are... 1) Tell him to shove it. Sold as seen. Positives = Simple. The matter of principle. Negatives = Instant negative feedback for the sake of a couple of quid. 2) Get a battery and post it to him. Positives = Positive feedback should result. Shouldn't cost anything because the profit from the original postage should cover it. Negatives = Being taken for a ride? 3) Ignore him... Vote now please! Quote
Peter Cox Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 You should have an option that says "depends on how you described it during the auction". Quote
markcoopers Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Post him the battery, get his posative feedback, then report him, go round his house and graffti the front of it, key his car and push poo through the letterbox. Or post him the battery and just be nice. Quote
Martin Keene Posted January 12, 2006 Author Posted January 12, 2006 You should have an option that says "depends on how you described it during the auction". Fair comment. It was never described as working because I never tested it... Quote
Boomy Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Tell him it works perfectly and he should go see a doctor...RIGHT NOW! Quote
Renmure Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 The obvious thing to do would be to ask him to send it back to you, for you to fix the problem if indeed it is fixable, and then return it. If it isn't fixable then refund his money. Boring answer I am afraid. I can't really see the problem. ho hum Quote

Surley all that running around will do him good that's what he bought it for in the first place. EXERCISE Quote

Or offer refund if he posts it back, carn't have been that expensive? No point falling out over such matters, unless he's a scouser or even worse a Man United Fan Quote
Martin Keene Posted January 12, 2006 Author Posted January 12, 2006 Cheers Guy's. I'm going to go with post him a battery. That's what he asked for and as I've said profit from first postage should more than cover it. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I bet you can't get him to give you feedback as good as Arnie over on the Dark side gets though. clicky Quote
Liam Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 I'm going to go with post him a battery. Good decision IMHO Always do the right thing and never totter when drunk Wooster Quote
gee_fin Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Life's too short, post battery, two happy people. Quote
CrashBangWallop Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 My advice would be... Always check your spelling before posting. "Eaby," indeed! And, as always, don't p*** into the wind. Quote
Bean Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Generally I'd say ask him to post it back and you'll get it looked at, but in this case I'd just send a new battery. Anything for an easy life, especially when it's only a matter of £2. Quote
