I have recieved 50 bits of positive feedback yet my rating is only 45 stars ? a couple of lads in the office have noticed the same thing any ideas why this is ?

Cheers  :durr:

Because if you buy something from or sell something to the same eBay member, that eBay member regardless of how many times they leave you a positive feedback it will only count as one point in your feedback score.

Either that or you have 5 negatives  :D

Captainfunbags has no negative feedback ;)

Receiving neutral feedback counts against your positive feedback quote. See my feedback score below, I left neutral feedback for a seller because he wouldn't answer my questions and posted me the wrong item, he in turn left me neutral feedback

Feedback Score: 15

Positive Feedback: 100%

Members who left a positive: 15

Members who left a negative: 0

All positive feedback received: 16

The feedback process is flawed IMO you daren't feedback on somebody negatively becasue they will do like wise regardless who was in the wrong

It doesn’t mate, if you get a neutral your score doesn’t increase or decrease. if your feedback is the way you have posted, you must have bought something off the same member twice, or there may be anther reason (It sometimes takes a few hours for you star score to update)

You are completely right. There must have been 20+ occasions where buyers have simply not paid me. I have not left any of these negative as I don’t want to receive any back.

Sucks doesn't it I reckon the seller should have to feedback 1st

Talking of feedback, my old workmate bidded on and won a car.

The woman mailed him and said it wasn't enough (she wanted quite a few hundred quid more), he explained that isn't how ebay works but told her about reserves etc etc if she were to sell again and then just decided to leave it at that.

A few days later he gets a negative feedback from her due to him not bidding enough! :D:D

As a seller i never leave feedback first, i always ask the buyer to leave feedback once they have received the item and they are satisfied. i have learnt this from leaving feedback as soon as they have paid before, then some buyers will complain that the item was damaged (when they didn’t pay for insurance) or was not what they expected and can they have a refund.. Knowing that they have the upper hand in the situation as the seller has already left feedback. When i don’t leave feedback first buyers are much more willing to negotiate and sort any problems out. Instead of in effect blackmailing you.

Good call, I once got scammed because I did not send an item recorded delivery, what the buyer did IMO is said he never recieved the item so basically I had to refund him so in effect he got it for free

If that makes sense ???

Ah, didn't know that. I assumed the neutral feedback counted against me.

You can reply to feedback though of course.

I have seen it a few times where you have 2 or even 3 lines on the feedback screen so even if someone was to suggest you were a bad ebayer, you can add your comments underneath.

At least that way people can see what the negative comments were for i guess, if they can be arsed to look that is.

I had a perfect ebay record with over 200+ transactions, then had a bit of confusion over something i had to pay for (only cheap) and due to it taking a few days longer i got a neutral rating.

I was well pi$#ed off with that tbh.I would of thought that with the contact i had made and the fact it was obvious i was no ebay messer it was a bit cruel to leave me that.

My follow up reply was simply "sorry for being human".

Mind you, that neutral rating has gone now so i assume if you get quite a few more positives after a neutral they just get wiped?

It’s a shame the few that are out there that spoil it for the rest of us.

When posting ask for a proof of postage. Its free, that way any disputes with eBay or PAYPAL.. don’t get me started.. Should be settled with your proof of posting slip  :)
