Steven (WE51STE) Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Hi, I've got 2 quick questions for you. 1. How easy is it to use the Smiths Instruments when using the Westfield Loom, Tank etc (are there any SVA or Connector gochas) ? 2. Where is the best (most cost effective) place to get the instruments from ( I do like the tailor made with magnolia and chrome with red font and needle)? Regards Steve Quote
stu999 Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Dunno if it is still the case, but a mate of mine fitted Smiths gauges to his Westfield, when the factory first started supplying them. We found that the negative and the sensor wire had to be swapped in the loom multiplugs for the temp, fuel, and oil pressure gauges. No idea about where to source them. At the time, Westfield were as competitive price wise as any supplier for the full set. But I suspect that you will need to source elsewhere for your choice of gauge design... Quote
Blatman Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Smiths are owned by Caerbont Automotive. Google will find them... Quote
geelhoed Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Westfield sent me the wrong subloom for the speedo but that was the only problem with them..... Quote
SparkyB Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 When I fitted mine I had to rearrange the wires within each loom plug to suit the Smiths gauges (initially everything went off the scales), but don't worry it's not a big job and only took a 5 min call to the factory to sort. I do believe Caerbont have an online ordering system that allows you to customise your instruments. Quote
geelhoed Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Yeah but that's in the manual so not really a big problem is it? Quote
