It's approx 2.5mm total and about 1.5mm to the inside of the flutes.

We have a winner! Zvezdochka, the old inner tube idea was perfect, I simply cut off a 'band' the right width and it was a good stretch fit on the 'hub' - brilliant.

Thanks all for your suggestions - now, what should I do with all those latex gloves Blatman sent me ...... I wonder what he uses them for?
