Anyone out there had any experience with Mk Indy's?

I built my Westfield sport 2000 a year ago and found it a much easier build than I had expected.

My brother in law is getting a MK indy kit in Jan :durr: ( I told him to get a Westfield)

and I'm going to help him with the build, It looks a lot more involved than the Westfield but should be interesting.

Hope no-one will mind if I post a few Indy related Questions over the next few months :D

Have a look on www.locostbuilders.co.uk - they have a dedicated MK forum.

not a patch on the WSCC web forum, but interesting. I think with the Indy I'll need all the help I can get ???

From what I've read the MK is one of the best of the Locost cars.  I don't know if I like the short nose on them but the one or two I've seen on the road look good.  The factory are meant to be excellent as well if you ever need advice.

I'd say that that was a rash conclusion to make... you'll find a *lot* of building expertise on there of the type beyond the ability of bolting stuff together.

Stephen Everall has one and it is excellent and handles well on road and track. Good value for money. Car was built for him by Gary Smith

The guy who's ordered the kit said they were very helpfull, also a lot of the owners seem to meet there on a Saturday morning for a chat and a bit of a meet which seems a good idea :D

I was meaning the site in general ( and even then it was ment to be taken a bit tongue in cheek ) and not the info and advice on offer, which I'm sure will be very usefull. As I say I think we will need all the help we can get. As Mark put it "it is a bit beyond just bolting stuff together".

WSCC is a fine Cuban cigar and Locost Builders is a rollup with Golden Virginia, DIY home brew beer compared to a bottle of Guinness  !  :p  :D

Seriously, locostbuilders can be interesting, I haven't posted there for ages but there are some interesting people on there.

Sorry, I wasn't intending to have a go, just wanted to say that the locost forum is an excellent resource with many people on it who know a lot about fabrication and adaptation because more of that is required for building a locost. I also wasn't intending to suggest that you fine people just know how to build cars by bolting stuff together by rote.

There, hope that that's cleared that up ;)

BTW, *buying* a chassis for a locost rather than welding your own from bits of scrap is for girls  :p  :D

Have fun :t-up:,

Having "bolted together" a westfield it will be interesting to see just how much more involved "building" a Mk is.

Westfield estimate about 120hrs and I spent about 250hrs,

Mk estimate around 300hrs so I'm expecting to be seeing a lot of the garage over the next few months

still all good fun :D

better dig out the welder and a few old bed frames  grrrrrr  :blues:

My Locost was an MK - they did a good job on it, and have done lots of development work on their other products (such as the Indy). Their welding is very good - they had to redo bits of my car for me after I bent them.... :(
