adamnreeves Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I am thinking of purchasing some Racing Dynamics Pro Race I wheels. I am going to go for 15x7. Does anyone know what offset and PCD I need to get. Also will the centre hub cap fit? Quote
Blatman Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Ask the factory... Or do a search. Offsets and PCD have been covered extensively. It's probably the equal first top question asked along with "Where can I get insurance"... PCD is standard 4 stud Ford. Offset on new cars is normally ET-37, but you can always add spacers to increase the offset (decrease the numerical value) if you want the wheels to sit differently in the arches. And that will depend on what rim width you fit... Quote
Jenko Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Having just bought a set of the same wheels (team Dynamics), I can say the following.....The PCD was 108, and the offset was et 38. Good choice of wheels by the way...I had mine fitted with Toyo T1-R tyres...Make sure youhaggle on price!. Good luck, Paul. Ohh, and the center caps fitted mine with no probs, the wheels come with a plastc insert that you need to fit. Be aware, you may need to bend your cycle wing bracket to get wheels to fit (depending on what bracket you have)...I'm going to get new wings as mine are slightly too small. Quote

Well I took a while to reach the decision on these wheels. IMHO there are the lightess and the best look for the car and black with yellow maintains the overall color scheme. Buuut, today I discovered that these aint the lightess in the world at 6.1Kgs in fact OZ racing Superleggera are only 4.9Kgs but they only come in silver or gold! I want to make the unsprng weight as low as possible, especially the unspung mass that is privvy to inertia. Quote

Go for 13s then and save a wodge of cash... Andy I was wondering if I could do that with a V8 producing around 300BHP. I need to get power to the road. I think I can get a set of 15" around £500 mark anyway. Are the 13" that much cheaper? Quote
adhawkins Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 13x7 are about 60 quid each (minilite style) I think. Andy Quote
Blatman Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 You can repowdercoat the wheels to any colour you want, so dig around for a second hand set of Superleggerras. I picked up a set from this very website two weeks ago, and for just 200 quid As for needing to get power down, what size tyres were you thinking of fitting? On a 7" rim anything more than about a 225 will be a compromise, and if you buy the usual Toyo T1R or Yokohama A539's, then it won't really matter whether it's 205 or 225 'cos as far as ultimate grip goes, those tyres are not especially good when compared to Toyo R888's and Yokohama AO48's. FWIW, I'll be putting my 250bhp to the road via a pair of 195-50-15's, and if that doesn't work, then I may try 205's but I can't see it making that much difference to be honest. One of the Speed Series drivers has set many a course record on 195-50-15's and he is rumoured to have 250ish bhp... Quote

Yep, as the weight is more important than the colour I have decided to go for these and decided I can re-spray them yes. And yes I would not like to get new ones sprayed, seems a shame, especially if they are gold (colour! So yep I am on the look out for 2nd hand ones in v.good condition. Now, do I go for gloss or matt black, erm. As far as the foot print it concerned I was going to try 205/50/15" first. If this isn't enough I would probably just change rear to 225/45/15" But I suspect 205/50/15" will be enough for the weight of the car, etc. do you know how much will cost to get re-painted, I was thinking about £20 per wheel. Blatman Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Seems to me that 25 quid down has the potential to save you several hundred quid on just the purchase of some wheels, never mind what else you might want buy. Plus, I think you've given the knowledge base quite a bashing over the last few weeks. You'd be hundreds down by now I reckon The question is, can you afford not to join? Quote
