studbuckle Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 It's taken 10 weeks but finally the USA2005 cars are being unloaded. Maverick pictured here in the careful hands of the Harrops. In need of some serious TLC now I think Quote

studbuckle Posted December 19, 2005 Author Posted December 19, 2005 the white stuff is mold from the dead flies we collected along the way and then subsequently being in a warm damp container..... front number plate was removed stateside Quote
Steve-B Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 at the risk of commiting heresy with Si whilst he's doped up from surgery, Maverick has been christened with a new named I am reliably informed Petri-Dish i'll get me coat....... Quote
KerryS Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Must be good to see him/her back, Si. Kerry Quote
adhawkins Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Well, Maverick is still a good few hundred miles away from its owner. I'm sure there'll be a tearful reunion soon. Andy Quote
Steve-B Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Simon is lucky -- a number of our cars are still in containers on the upper level, where it is going to be considerably harder to get them unloaded today. hopefully the bug mung on the front of his is just an artifact of he and Carla not cleaning the car. i have not heard any other reports of cars looking like theirs so am optimistic ours will be OK when it comes out. the good part is it gives Simon something to look forward to, instead of just dreaming of being back at his desk! Buzz Billsberry Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I must admit I thought my car didn't exist anymore. I got to Southampton at 07.30 my car was the last out of the containers of the day and eventually I set off back to Leeds with me car on the trailer at 18:15 eventually getting home at 23.30 to find a 4" scratch down the bonnet, b*******. As Si says I had the same problem with the mould on the nose cone, however, as Si hasn't seen his car in the flesh the mould is every where and I mean every where!. it comes off quite easily tho' the mould didn't surprise me tho', after being at sea for around 3 weeks in a seriously freezing cold Atlantic! I was please the car started 1st time altho' the battery was very low. At least now the car is in my possession once again!! Buzz Quote

Barry Ashcroft Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 Finally collected mine today from portsmouth thankfully not as mouldy a maverick just needs a good clean then ready for the open road or maybe the classifieds not made my mind up yet!! Barry Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 I washed mine today and found two deep gashes in the front L/H wheel where the strapping ratches dug in; so thats going on the claim form. As for the rest of the car it was just furry from the fungus. I'll be taking the body off this week and be giving it a major overhaul plus I need to run the dry sump braided hoses down the side of the car between the ally cockpit panels and the body work to the catch tank which will be at the back of the bulk head behind the seats.I'm also looking at running the brake lines down the drivers side rather than under the floor. I can't put them down the tranny tunnel due to the heat from the under slung exhaust. I've a load of stuff to do before April I just hope I don't run out of time! Happy tinkering Have a good new year y'all Buzz Quote
