Guest Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Hi, My elderly Uncle is offering his Laguna Estate to me at a bargain price - and I am very tempted, but thought I would check it out with you guys (and ladies?) first. The car is a 2003 (53 plate) Laguna Sports Tourer 2.2CDI 150bhp Automatic in Dynmanique trim - top of the range with every extra you can shake a stick at (including sat nav). It has done 11k miles - and he is asking £11.5k (23k new) More important than the price and the fact that it appears to be a very nice car - what are the negatives for Renault's in general??? Would you buy one?? Who wants to buy a Rover 75 estate?? Quote
Guest Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Renault electrics Kerry Thanks Kerry - the Laguna has lots of them. Then again, so does my Rover and almost every car these days. Are you saying Renault are particularly bad? Quote
wildwesty Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 seems a bit expensive, even with 11k on the clock! It would be about the right money if you were getting it from a dealer, but a private price would be 2-3k below that and thats the sort of money you what to be paying for a bargain. ive just put it through parkers, have a go and see what you think: all the w's parkers. co.uk Quote
Guest Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Thanks - seems my uncle is pulling a fast one then. Just seems like a lot of car for the money.......... Pulls on best negotiating coat and gets ready to leave work to head home.... Quote
wildwesty Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 french metal isnt like any other............. you do get lots for your pounds Quote
Gavin Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 My boss from a previous job had a laguna dynamique as a company car and it spent more time at the dealers with electrical faults than it did on the road !! Also it will have 225/45zr17 reinforced tyres on it which cost a small fortune (about £600) for a set of the continental oe fitment. Also the sensor valves that tell you when your tyre is low on pressure have a habit of corroding and cost around £75.00 a piece fitted to replace.I am not a fan of French cars either and my advice would be to steer well clear ! Derby Allen Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Wife as one, all the gimmicks too. stay well clear. £800 alone to sort out a duff dashboard, then there is the rear suspension bush problems -£250, honest opinion her number plate is worth more than the car. My opionion only of coarse Quote
Guest Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Thanks for the comments - shame things can't be simple any more; bought a car (Rover) that is a great car - but now worth bobbins - Laguna looks like a pile of cack.......... Think I go to the pub. Quote
JeffC Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 £11k think I will have to have a price increase ! Ive Got one coming in px next week against A4 avant.. its a dci dynamique estate silver 6 speed, black leather 2003 done 48k, has manufacturers warranty remaining .Car is as new condition .the trade in price is £6300 and retail is £7500 , I will be advertising it for £5,995 , but will more than happily take £11,000 for it they are reasonabley good car ( for a french car !!! ) when they are right but Ive got to be honest they are prone to faults, this one has allready had the gearbox and clutch replaced under warranty. KerryS Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Renault electrics Kerry Thanks Kerry - the Laguna has lots of them. Then again, so does my Rover and almost every car these days. Are you saying Renault are particularly bad? Bad experiences in the past with French electrics Kerry Quote
Yobbo Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 The Laguna diesels have apparently also had other problems as well. There was a discussion on Blatchat in January where turbos and gearboxes had also given real probems to several contributors to the thread. Quote
