adhawkins Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 There are only 2 sizes in that helmet, is it ok to mail order these? I have seen posts saying you must try them on, make sure they fit. I'd definitely recommend getting along to somewhere like Demon Tweeks or Grand Prix Racewear to try on a range of helmets. You don't need to pay much (I got a helmet from Merlin Motorsport that would have been fine for the Speed Series for less than 100 quid), but making sure it fits properly is important. Andy Quote
The Great Fandango Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 RobK, Yes the HJC helmet if perfectly good for any non-competitive trackday, and has many features you'll find in more expensive helmets. 1. Air vents 2. Detacheable mouth-peice to direct air out via the vents 3. Mist (semi)resistant visor 4. Carrying bag In my opinion it's a bargain. It conforms to all motorbike safety standards and has the common and highly recognised gold seal. What it doesn't have is the more specific motorsport accreditation but my understanding is the motorbike gold seal is actually tested to a higher tolerance? If you get yourself to a Heine Gericke shop you'll actually find there is a small, medium, and large option. I'm also thinking they do an extra small. I know, I have all three depending upon who I'm carrying as passenger. By the way, you are more than welcome to come along for a ride if there are the normal 6 runs Happy buying Quote
flanker7 Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 My mates would like to come this year and have a drive, kind of repayment for favours they do me thru the year. What is the cost element if I bring say 3 friends and share my sessions between them. I don't want to fall foul of the rules. Quote
The Great Fandango Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Are there any rules on sharing a car at Mallory? Most trackdays I've been to you pay for the time/car on track, not the driver(s)... Sharing your car (if you trust that person's driving) is a common way to get costs down. After all, with a helmet on, who's going to identify the driver? Quote
Mark Stanton Posted April 3, 2006 Author Posted April 3, 2006 Read the entry form no additional costs for passengers and cars may be shared in same group at only £97.50 - you won't find cheaper Quote
