Mark Stanton Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 Anthony - good to see you gonna have a go You DO NOT need a certified MSA skid lid for Mallory Park - however my personal advice would be to get one if poss as it will avoid further costs later on for other track or comp use - The OMP ones on sale at Merlin seem very good value. At WSCC track days a single piece roll bar is sufficient - again however my advice would be gt a braced unit as soon as budget permits and don't worry if your car won't start - plenty of folks around to push Quote
Martin Keene Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 I've just noticed that anyone with Competition experience goes in to Class D... Will that include me? I've only done one sprint and Class B might be nearer my level! Martin *S**ting himself at the though of being on track with the likes of Scott / V8 / etc* Quote
Rob Navin Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Martin *S**ting himself at the though of being on track with the likes of Scott / V8 / etc* Just talk to them before the first session and ask them which side they want you to pass them on Quote
ChrisF Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Count me in again I guess I ought to be class C but as I intend to do some of the speed series events this year....that means I'll be in class D with you Martin Quote
The Great Fandango Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Anyone camping over this year?!? I promise to chop down at least half a tree for a decent fire! Cheers PS: Chris... Have you got enough skill to join the Speed Series?!? Quote
ChrisF Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 PS: Chris... Have you got enough skill to join the Speed Series?!? No of course I haven't, I only have want to look like a racer Anyone camping over this year?!? I promise to chop down at least half a tree for a decent fire! I'll camp over if you keep the fire going Quote
The Great Fandango Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 That's not an open offer to keep all and sundry cosy-warm if you know what I mean!... Sure I'll be camping! Got to make use of the new all singing all dancing tent I purchased for Cadwell last season (even if my Westfield never actually made it there, the camping was still fun) Has the Mr. Mark Cooper returned to the land of Westfield yet? RobK Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 I presume spectators are allowed at these meetings? we are building a Westfield..well.... in reality we are at present building a garage and workshop Hoping to visit a few track days, have a look at a few cars etc etc. Ours wont be built until early 2007!! Any advice appreciated Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Yes you can RobK you'll also get plenty of rides all ya gotta do is ask Buzz Quote
The Great Fandango Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 RobK, Come morning of the trackday, don't be frightened to actually drive into the paddock in the centre of the circuit. There's plenty of space. In fact, it's a strange sight seeing some peeps group together and other "loners" picking a spot some 150 yards away. I always bring too much food'n'drink so there'll be plenty spare to go round! Top tip: get yourself to Tescos and buy some of those folding director/fishing type chairs - they're only £5.00 each at the moment! Mallory's flakey tarmac is unforgiving on your rear! Cars are allowed to leave at set intervals during the afternoon while the track is not in use. If you haven't already buy yourself a helmet too. As Buzz said there'll be many people there who will be more than happy to offer you a trip as passenger and show you what their cars can do. I can recommend the following HJC helmet for £79.99 although it does not conform to Speed Series standards if you wish to start racing. HJC CL-14 Black Helmet See you there! Quote
The Great Fandango Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Mark, is there any chance we can have our own photographer this year?... After all that trouble I had with John Reilly of Reilly Studios, I eventually got the photos even though the last contact I had from him was to tell me to stop calling him, he was going to withold my photos. When I received them, there was a blimin' splodge on the lens, so I sent them back. To this day, he says he never received them back! What an (overpriced) awkward A***! Quote
RobK Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Thanks for the replies. Will this helmet be ok for general trackdays on most circuits? There are 2 of us, me and a friend who are building the westfield. Went to the Oulton Park show last weekend and was taken on track in a Westfield (first track experience). We decided we would need a helmet each. There are only 2 sizes in that helmet, is it ok to mail order these? I have seen posts saying you must try them on, make sure they fit. We are definately coming down!!! Will see you all there EDIT!!... There are plenty of agents for these helmets around Doncaster, we will try before we buy. Quote
