Bluerallye Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 But the real answer can be traced back to the fact that time-trialling on UK roads was illegal back in the late 50's so we (not me personally at age 33) used to head out in the darkness of early mornings in black to race .......but the picture in the link puts up a stronger argument IMO! peter pan Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 The thing that gets me, is that every morning on my way to work there are kids doing paper rounds without lights on their bikes, and wearing black clothing. Whilst these kids are to be commended for getting up at an unearthly hour and doing a job of work they also need protection because they are all but invisible. It seems the police are good at catching people exceeding a posted limit (sometimes only a few miles an hour over) but they dont do ANYTHING about saving the lives of these kids by making them use lights and hi vis vests so that other road users have a chance of seing them before they run them over (But of course doing that doesnt raise any scamera cash) Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 I don't know about you but I dress to the left when I get out on the MTB Buzz Quote
Bazzer Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 I think non car driving cyclists do not realise just how invisible they are without lights. That said though there are a lot of car drivers who can't seem to see me on my bike when its daylight let alone dark. Guy in a old sh*te Rolls Royce waited till my missus was within 5meters of him before he pulled out on her on Sunday. Bazzer Quote
