PhilH Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Gonna go and fetch a pressure washer. Any ideas which is best .Spending about £99.99.There is a Karcher or a Bosch which look ok. Thanks Phil Quote
slippy Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Karcher are pretty good me fathers had a couple and they do what they say on the tin so to speak, The Karcher ones have endless amounts of accesories available from B&Q but I suppose it depends what you intend using it for Quote
PhilH Posted November 12, 2005 Author Posted November 12, 2005 Been to B&Q both Bosch and Karch look similar, probably come out of the same factory! Bosch has a slightly bigger motor. Just using it for Westy the other cars and the drive etc. Phil Quote
scooby Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I bought a Karcher one for about £80 and its crap. Only used it twice abd all it does now is Pulse, it wont give a constant spray.... need a new one Quote
DAVE O Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I've had two Karcher washers both of which have failed after about 14mths use. One the motor failed and the other was an internal seal. I gave up on the expensive option and got an 'RAC' branded washer from Argos I think it was about £50 and came with a free electric car polisher and vac. It has the same power as the Karcher and has so far been excellent - 18 mths use - cars & drives etc Dave O Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Have the same problem with my Karcher, it's usually the O rings in the pistol grip part that go. Not been able to get any spares from Karcher, so fitted the nearest equivalent size I could find. It's usable now but the seals aren't perfect, so does suffer from pulsing when you release the trigger. Quote
slippy Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Looks like Karchers are gash, free polisher and vac aint bad for 50 notes Quote
PhilH Posted November 12, 2005 Author Posted November 12, 2005 On way to Argos. Thanks guys Phil Quote

KerryS Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Just using it for Westy the other cars and the drive etc. Phil Pressure washer on a Westy? You'll blow it away Kerry Quote
Chris Elworthy Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I've had my Karcher for 5 years and so far the only problem has been the pulsing, however this was solved very easily simply by de-crapping the nozzle. Luckily I work next door to Karcher UK and they sell re-manufactured ones (generally catalogue or warranty returns I think) at about half price and thats what I have, and as I said other than the build up of grolly in the nozzle hasn't missed a beat. altval Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 DON'T buy anything Bosch.Aftersales service(in my experiance) is c**p. Quote
JeffC Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 had a Kew (alto?) washer for 5 years used most days(I wash a lot of cars!! ) never let me down, replaced it with a bigger washer and got a karcher,(big mistake) was back gettin repaired more times than i care to remember in the end they got that sick of me complaining i got my money back.. Now bought a Bosch ,think it cost me £140 but retailed at £400, was a return off a guy on ebay...it is lump more powerful much better quality, feels proper compared to the mickeymouse b&q sh*te , the Hose is reinforced and twice as long as the karcher with proper fittings... had it over a year now and no probs at all... Mike H Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Had my Karcher (cheap one but higher pressure than inlaws expensive version) for about 5 years and it's been fine. Like any pressure washer don't run them without water. Mike Quote
