Nick A Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 thats how they discribe it anyway here Quote
cast iron Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 I already have the engine albeit slightly more potent. I'm still waiting for Westfield to let me know how much the exhaust manifold and mounts will be. Quote
KerryS Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Is that the Puma engine then? Inlet/exhaust are reversed compared to my CI block Zetec. Kerry Quote
Westfieldman Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Puma engine then? Inlet/exhaust are reversed compared to my CI block Zetec. And or the 1.6 Focus engine, its all alloy had one in a Focus Quote
mattf Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 The engine is used by Ford in the Puma/Fiesta/Focus. Other kit car manufacturers (Quantum and Speedshaw for example) are starting to use this engine now too. Quote
KerryS Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Been to factory today and we talked about this. It's the Focus engine, WF cannot get any more Zetecs. Car weighs 550kg with 135 bhp (Ithink they said) no heater, has heated screen. Bit more ££ than the Madness kit. It was the car on the Weber stand at Donington. Sounds a goodun Kerry Quote
StuartMackay Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 WF cannot get any more Zetecs. The 2 litre Zetec line has been ripped out of Bridgend engine plant and is on its way to China (together with Rover 75 line I believe) Quote
KerryS Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Rover 75 Zetec then? Forgot to say, it uses Freelander diff too Kerry Quote
StuartMackay Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Rover 75 Zetec then? I think the Zetec and Rover 75 connection is purely the same bunch of guys tearing the lines out.... I dont think there will be any Zetecs for a while, as a mobile telephone manufacturer has bought the Zetec line and wants to join in the Chinese Automotive Goldrush. The new owners dont have access to the Zetec castings or intellectual property rights which Ford still owns, so god knows what the engine will look like when the line gets re-commissioned in China Quote
Blatman Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Makes sense from an aesthetic point of view, as all the factory supplied 4 pot car engines will now have the exhaust on the drivers side... Quote
pgh Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Call me a softy, but I wouldn't want to do without a heater. I know it's heavier, but I reckon it makes the difference between taking the car out on a crisp dry day & deciding to not bother... Quote
KerryS Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 The answer is Paul to thrash the car so that the transmission keeps your left leg warm, and since the new cars will have the exhaust on the RHS, if your hand gets cold you rest it on there for a while - sorted Kerry Quote
