johnsubaru Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 Hi Guys I wonder if you can shed any light on my problem I have a Zetec 1800 Running on twin Weber 40's and Alpha ECU. I decided to give it a start today after it's been stood for a couple of months. This in it's self was a complete nightmare!!! But i eventually got it going and it's not firing on cylinders 3 and 4. I removed the plugs and there is a spark from them which leads me to a fuel/carb problem. But i know nothing about carbs so where should i look fron here??? I don't kjnow whether it is relevant or not but since day one No 3 cylinder has always been slow to fire correctly ie 15 - 20 seconds after initial start up. Any help appreciated Thanks John Quote
S8ight Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 give the carb a gentle wake up tap with a block of wood and see what happens Quote
johnsubaru Posted October 30, 2005 Author Posted October 30, 2005 Are you serious??? Give them a tap Cheers Quote
johnsubaru Posted October 30, 2005 Author Posted October 30, 2005 Hi S8ight You're a star, i little gentle persuasion with a nylon mallet did the trick!!!! But i know have a couple more questions Why did tapping the carbs work??? The engine was running for 5 or 10 minutes only on two cylinders, would this of done any damage??? Thanks John Quote
stu999 Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 The float/needle valve was probably stuck closed, and the 'tapping' freed it off... No harm will of been done. Quote
perksy Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 Might be worth giving the Carb's a Service/Birthday Quote
