I had mine done on the NHS. Local anaesthetic, no pain, no problem. Done in 15 minutes. Slight dull ache for a couple of days. I was the only patient, so it was just me, the doctor and his assistant. None of this production line stuff. That sounds rather impersonal.

No subsequent problems in the trouser dept either

:D   :D   :D

It's not an easy decision to make and shouldn't be taken lightly.  I felt rather subdued for a few days afterwards. It's the knowledge of the finality, even though it makes so much sense.

Now, if we're talking pain  -  urethral endoscopy up into the bladder.  Now that really does f***ing hurt.  Local anaesthetic and the doctor telling you to relax as he threads what feels like a hose pipe up your old chap. :bangshead:  :bangshead: Deeply uncomfortable and disturbing. Searingly painful for weeks afterwards.  Still makes me cross my legs to think about it years later.   Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Good job I can laugh about it now. That wasn't too much detail for some of you was it?

This is Men's Health Forum isn't it?

Emma's just reminded me:

I had to shave myself before the snip. The doctor said "don't go mad - you don't want to look like the last turkey in the shop"  :D  :D  :D   "Oh, and don't cycle to the surgery"  :D  :D  :D

Had it done a long time ago, but do agree that the full anaesthetic was the way to go :)  The nurse on the ward called it the 'coward's day',  this was ok by me, went to sleep, woke up, all done  :t-up:

Slight discomfort for a couple of days, the most uncomfortable bit was when I was sitting quitely in the chair at home and my then 5 year old came bounding across the room and leaped into my lap, that made the eyes water a bit :D:D:D

Jeff if I was to have it done again I'd go for the local, I was put to sleep for mine, they told me after that the doctor I was supposed to have was busy so his side kick did it. I think it was actually the gardner. I had 5 weeks off work 12 visits to doctor, 6 to hospital all due to internal bleeding. I did get photo's of my spuds in the medical journal though. Specialist said he had never seen anything like it and took loads of pics to use when training new recruits.

Having said all that if i had the decision to make again i'd still get it done.  :t-up:

Same here.  Piece of cake really.

Plus, it's great for the sex life - no more worrying about contraception (especially if the wife isn't too keen on the pill) or having to be careful  :t-up:

I was "done" a couple of years ago, I had a fair bit of bruising that lasted a couple of weeks and a fair bit of discomfort for the first couble of days, all fine within a week.

The worst thing was the smell of burning flesh as the surgon used a lazer quateriser.

You need to make sure that the anethatist does a really good job, I needed a "top up" half way through  ???

I chose to have it done as I thought it was unfair to let Mrs Slide take care of the contraception after we had our second child and agreed we did'nt want any more kids.

I felt the the "risk" to me was minimal compared to the inherant risk to Mrs Slide if she kept on taking the pill for the next 25 or so years.

Chaz.

Pretty much the same as my experience.

Didn't play tennis for a week......that was the only alteration I had to make.

And as Nick M says it has some beneficial side effects  :D  :D  :D

I was tooooo much of a coward to have it done. If I had plucked up the courage I would have had the whole lot taken away.

The trouble it has got me into over the years just wasn't worth it! :D

It has many positive side effects - no more testosterone fuelled punchups, no wanting to go out everynight with the lads, no more wanting to hump everything in sight… just curl up near the radiator.

The only problem is my meow sounds a little high pitched……..
