Richard Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Does anyone have any suggestions on what material to use to deck a trailer? It seems the pucker stuff to use is phenolic board I've spoken to Indespension who sell the stuff in sheets of 8' x 4' x 18mm but at £88.43 it seems rather expensive especially as I'll need 2 sheets cos I need to fill the gap in the middle of trailer which is 31" x 12' Anyone any ideas? Or, who may know of someone who does this type of job in Yorkshire area? Thanks Richard Quote
slippy Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 B&Q do that trailer/foot plate ( I think it's called ) I'm sure somebody will be along to correct me Quote
Boxerman33 Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 £80 for phenolic @ 8ft x 4ft is a really good price. Only other option is polyprop sheet, not quite a rigid though Quote
slippy Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Checker/Chequer plate ..... that's what I meant Quote
Terry Everall Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Exterior grade ply is much cheaper and just needs 3 coats of dark brown stain and is a simple easy job which I did on my old trailer Quote
felters Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Marine ply and some black Ronseal at a fraction of the price... Quote
joff69 Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Theres a place in Batley next door to FoundryCraft ( Opposite Skopos Mills shopping mall type place) that are a kind of coach builders, they fit out van chassis to your spec kind of thing. Not sure how cheap/expensive they will be. If only I could remember their name. ( Its near Well Lane turbo Centre if thats any Help) Anyway they do the stuff thats like plyboard but also has an aluminium sheet on oneside thats bonded to it. Must be about 15-20mm thick. ish Quote
Richard Posted October 21, 2005 Author Posted October 21, 2005 Thanks for the info chaps, Will probably have a ride to Batley to see if I can find the place Joff69 mentions. If not, then I reckon it will be 15mm plywood with plenty of wood preserve. Quote
joff69 Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Richard: If you are going to the place in Batley, it is right off the main road, Bradford Road, just before the traffic lights at the bottom of Soothill. It is next to the Carpark on the opposite side of the road to Skopos Mills and Kwikfit. It is actually joined onto Foundry craft. You can use the Foundry craft entrance I think. My dad used to do a bit of work for Foundrycraft, so If I can get hold of him, I might be able to get you a name and number! Quote
joff69 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Richard The place is called FCP ( Foundry Craft Patterns), and I think the main guy there is John. Didnt manage to get a phone number though! HTH Quote
