Weight saving.  A bonnet is probably less use for downforce than the lawnmower parts.

Just about dried out now. Forgot how wet it was until I saw pictures on Whatnoneagtives site.

Even mark smith ventured onto the green stuff but maybe he was looking for sheep! :D
