Robert Posted May 2, 2002 Posted May 2, 2002 Like many people I have been getting less and less interested in CCC as it moves towards Max Power and repeated inaccurate track day reviews. I had been hanging on with CCC, but recently let my subscription lapse, since it now takes me a very short time to read the articles interesting to me. Today I received an introductory copy of "Circuit Driver" which is by What's on Motorsport and incorporates Circuit News. It looks very promising and has several good articles with reports on Westfields, c******ms Etc. According to the editor Steve Bennett, the new mag is the anti-christ for Max Power readers, which sounds encouraging. My only reservations being it may develop into some sort or corporate racing or high end track day magazine rather than staying with Club motorsport - slightly worrying is the lack of focus on Hillclimbs and Sprints. Perhaps if enough people here have similar interests to me, we could lobby them perhaps by email to have a magazine with good content to look forward to, now that CCC is pretty poor. Has anyone else seen the first edition of Circuit Driver, if so what are your opinions of it ? Robert P.S they have a web site circuitdriver.com Quote
gee_fin Posted May 2, 2002 Posted May 2, 2002 Steve Bennet was the one who instigated CCC's new look a fair few months back. The first CCCs of the new look were excellent, until about three months ago when they seemed to breed Renault 5 Turbos, GTi things and large shiny wheels (a page on Audi TT wheel selection goodness me!). They now seem to be trying to move away from their previous sevenesque bias by showcasing hot hatches and their nasty road cruising brethren which is a shame. Anyways, Circuit Driver does look promising. However, my only reservation is that it's subscription only, this will limit their audience greatly. Got a good team though, so perhaps this is the new hope..... Graeme. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted May 2, 2002 Posted May 2, 2002 Could somone let our PR man Steve Robbo have some contact e-mails and perhaps we could interest them to print some club motorsport stuff at our hill and sprint events Quote
