Hello all - does anyone know if these overalls are acceptable for entry in the speed series?

LEVEL 2 SPEC

Sparco badge on back collar reads:

CIK-FIA2001/27

07-2002/07-2007

Are they Nomex (or the other one, Proban is it?)? If not, then no.

CIK? Isn't that something to do with Karting?

Ive sent them a message asking if they are Nomex or Proban, just waiting for a reply :)

This is what they came back with :

They are level 2 efficiency as stated inside the overalls the labels read as follows:

THis garment is F.I.A approved and complies to the actual standard rules it is manufactured to protect drivers-mechanics during events of F1/TRACK/RALLY/KART and it is made of special material according to each single discipline. SPARCO is not liable for any problem arising from any incorrect use.

Please note this is as stated on label stitched inside overalls

CIK is definitely the Karting bods, I suspect this is a karting suit.

As such, not suitable for sprinting (IMO).

I wouldn't write it off just yet, I've been known to be wrong before.

You are correct Mr H - that is the code for Karting overalls which is not acceptable for sprint or race use  :D  :D  :D

Karting overalls see section N-11 of Blue Book

For Race/Sprint overalls see Q-9 of Blue Book  :D  :D

Acceptable for racing as follows

BS 6249 part 1 index A or B (but not C)

BSEN533

PrEN533:1995 Index 3 (not acceptable wef 1.1.2005)

FIA Standard Overalls

All other events

BS 6249 part 1 index A or B (but not C)

BSEN533

PrEN533:1995 Index 3

FIA Standard Overalls

For FIA Homologation overalls the label will be stitched into the garment fabric

FIA 8856-2000

FIA 1986 standard    (not acceptable wef 1.1.2005)

Let's hope 2006 is same  :D  :D  :D
