Bean Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 A mate and I are seriously considering buying this and throwing a decent engine in over winter. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws....TQ:UK:1 Quote
potster Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Looks good for the money. Also don't dismiss the xflow. Its a cracking engine in a westfield. There is a certain member of the club running one with 200bhp Quote
itguy Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 You may want to consider mine in the cars for sale section too Its very tidy and not much more than the one on ebay... As its already got 3d ignition etc popping a new engine in would be a bit cheaper too. http://boardroom.wscc.co.uk/cgi-bin....t=32559 Quote

I thought the one on Ebay was interesting, it's had new panels and full respray. Full rebuild it seems. My friend is an ex Vauxhall mechanic and we've got a VX 16V lump kicking around, was thinking about throwing that in with some custom mapping and throttle bodies. Should go well Quote
leighc Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Bean, I wouldn't let the wings put you off, its much easier to replace swept with cycle wings than to put a new engine in!! I bet you would find that the green one has had the swap job anyway. I've been out in Wills car and the quality is second to none. The car has been looked after like a spoilt child!!! And if you say something about the wings leave a faded stripe, my friend resprays westfields.. Did a superb job on mine Quote

Don't underestimate how much all of this will cost. I had a narrow SE with a XFLOW. When I looked at swapping the engine it worked out cheaper to sell up and buy a car with a VX already fitted. But don't let that put you off. Just be aware that your probably looking at the thick end of £2k for the conversion your looking to do. The engine (which you aleardy have) is a minor cost compared to TB's, mapping etc. Quote

The engine (which you aleardy have) is a minor cost compared to TB's, mapping etc. Sure I was thinking of at least £2k for the swap, although having seen you can swap swept wings for cycle style this widens the choice of cars available. But, won't you be left with loads of holes? Too be honest I might just drive the car as is, swap the engine next year. There's a lot of bargains around this time of year to be had Quote
itguy Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 The holes left can be covered in many ways Some people have filled them, some have used some really fancy alloy head screws that just make it look like the bodywork fixing to chassis. Others have used transfers/stickers etc. I do actually have a pair of red cycle wings at home that might be spare to go with the car.... They would need to be sprayed to match the car (or black to contrast it). Will Quote

Rob Navin Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 A big pot of cash and some very good engine building.....Oh and LOTS of revs <!--emo& and we are talking a very big pot of cash But its worth every penny to me 9.5k revs, twin 48's, gear driven cam and all steel gets you there. I'm looking in to how much I could get out of it if I took it over 1700cc Quote
Hanslow Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 That's the same one that's on Pistonheads I assume (here : Advert) Quote
Bean Posted September 23, 2005 Author Posted September 23, 2005 That's the same one that's on Pistonheads I assume (here : Advert) Yeah, didn't realise it's on Pistonheads as well. On Ebay it has a starting price of £3999, I still reckon it looks nice and quite modern. It seems the guy needs cash fast and his dad wants his garage back! lol Quote
Boomy Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 There was a very tidy one for sale in the back of kit car magazine this month for 3 grand! Quote
