Barry Ashcroft Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 Cheers Dean. Off to walmart now for an oil change! Car is going really well no problems some of the guys are really struggling for power as we are 8,000 feet up in the mountains, Even had to put the heater on yesterday as we came over the top at about 10,000 feet. Bit of a change from the 100+ degrees we had in Texas. We drove through the Texas oil fields yesterday the smell of oil was disgusting. One of the cateringvans hit a oil well wrench it was about 12" long and about 8" wide at the head the result was a smashed sump which was fixed buy fitting a spare sump but the sump plug was not tight and it lost all the oil and oil presure when he was over taking a lorry at full chat! ouch It is now down the road in a workshop having the spare engine fitted to it. Buzz's engine is runnig spot on also he is going for an oil change also. Give Jez my email address b.ashcroft@btinternet.com also web site www.chevroletwestfield.co.uk Cheers Barry Quote

KerryS Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 I should get out of Texas - apparently it's going to get a bit windy - 160 mph winds I heard!! Kerry S Quote
scott beeland Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Barry why on earth have you got the hood up?? Bet they haven't got a spare chevy in the support truck??# Be careful out6 there....oh and watch out for increasing tumbleweed speed Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Barry why on earth have you got the hood up?? I think that maybe something to do with some welcome shade Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted September 22, 2005 Author Posted September 22, 2005 The hood is a half hood made by Jill Judd it is for sun shade but also gives good protection from the rain and still alows air flow through the car which a full hood does not. We are about 1500 mile from houston so no danger from the hurricane. The hotel we stayed in in houston was in seabrook right on the coast front out of our hotel room was the sea I suspect that will be distroyed if it hits a full power One of our tourers has left this morning as his wife kids and family have been evacuated they are going to durango which is tomorrows stop over for two days.
