DickieB Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 One that will fit under the car! Sounds obvious, but check how much clearance you have under your chassis. I have to roll my car onto 2 blocks of wood to get the jack under it! But then, mine is race height not road height! Worth checking. Assuming that you have plenty of "height" then any old jack from Halfords or Machine Mart will do. Halfords sometimes has free axle stands with them, which is nice! Quote
pistonbroke2 Posted September 18, 2005 Author Posted September 18, 2005 Cheers Dick. Clocked a 2 ton job in Machine Mart Cat.£18.00. Wondered if it was O.K. or Junk. Peter. Quote
adhawkins Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 I've got a Machine Mart one, went for the one with the lowest clearance that they had. Goes under my car Ok, and my car isn't blessed with huge amounts of clearance! Never had any problems with it myself, but I'm hardly a 'power user' Andy Quote
S8ight Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 had the same machine mart jack for a while now, must be at least 15 years and its been fine Quote
pistonbroke Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Could borrow me Uncle Jack , got done for shop lifting He should be able to handle yer wessy Quote
Westfieldman Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Never work under a car suported by a hydraulic jack alone place a wheel under the car as a minimum or do it properly and use axle stands So as long as the jack works and fits under the car it's fine Quote
