should my westy be spitting flames out of the exhaust ?

2.0 xe with fast road cams / verinas / webber alfa / delorto 45`s

carbs set up on saturday with a vac and gas analizer at the local tuning place

Mine does it too 2.0L Zetec,Weberr 48`s, F/R cams and Alpha 3D.

Good for scaring the cr@p out of people at night.

Mine only does it on overrun.

yer just on overrun, say 2nd gear rev to 6k then back off BANG FLASH about 2k

Odds on your exhaust collector/manifold interface is leaking. They are rarely airtight unless they have been treated to some heat proof sealant. Air gets in, and the oxygen ignites the exhaust gasses and any excess fuel present.

There are plenty of instances of people asking about this, and plenty of advice if you really want to cure it...

Cool isn't it.  I wouldn't worry too much with a Carb fed engine.

just be careful the flames dont come out the other end of you engine! :(

Adam1330's 2litre zetec/no CAT/jenveys spits flames on overrun. Was rolling roaded at Northampton Motorsport so no problems there but his Raceline collector does leak. Looks great in the dark. I want some on my 1800 zetec. :devil:
