Sam Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 I was just wondering if anyone had done this and therefore had any info that i need to know so that i dont mess it up. Hopefully somone can help so i can get my engine in this weekend. Sam Quote
markcoopers Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Never done one of the Black ones, but in theory it should be the same as the earlier Silver ones. You will need a spigot bearing, I've the ford part number at home, and a Ointo Clutch I think, but again could find part numbers at home this evening. Clutch arm and releas bearing were Standard Sierra affairs/Westfirld parts, Guess what, I even have the part numbers for these at home. My CVH starter motor was fine, as was the Westfield clutch cable. Went in fine, and just bolted together. Mark Quote
Sam Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 If u could supply those part numbers then that would be very helpful. btw nice job on that westy in the pic!! Quote
jeff oakley Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 What chasis is this going in Sam? If it is a type 9 chassis then you will also need a remote filter as the engine will be further forward than in the later mt75 chassis. If it is the later you also have to cut off the bulge for the starter, all but about 2 inch at the engine end. Then the engine and box will go right back in the chassis with no need for a gear stick extension. Robc could email you some photographs of his in place. jeff Quote
Sam Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 Thanks for the reply, i have actually seen Rob's car a few times so i hope he will give me a hand with cutting the bell housing. I am more worried about the bits that have to go inside the thing. I have found a section that helps on zetecinside.com but i was just seeing if anyone had any hands on knowledge. Quote
jeff oakley Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Sam you have no hope of Rob helping as it was me who cut his for him. You must be near Bristol / Bath so no problem for you to bring it over and I will do it for you when you are ready. If you pm Rob he has all the part numbers for the clutch, IIRC it is a 1.8 mondeo with a release bearing from an 1.8 sierra cvh. Jeff Quote
mars0505 Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Sam maybe this link will help: http://www.zetec-cat.co.uk/ or http://www.gibbs111.fsnet.co.uk/eng_gear_comb.htm Marcel Quote
RobC Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 If I'd done mine there would have been no bellhousing left i'll email you pics sam MS test this weekend, finger crossed Quote

jeff oakley Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 At least this time it won't take 2 hours 10mins tops Sam, do you have broadband? Yes but the two hours was to put it in once, find out westfield had not explained it to you right, take it back out cut the bellhousing and refit engine and box. This was all done with a hot waterbottle strapped to my back because of the slipped disc I have, so pretty good really but yes 10 mins max with the angle grinder now we know Quote
